In a much anticipated turn of events, Shaun Donovan, the secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), announced that the FHA (which falls under the governance of HUD) will allow home buyers to access their $8000 tax credit for first-time buyers at closing to be used towards their 3.5% down payment on the FHA loan maximum 96.5% financing loans.
