Michael Phelps appeared on the today show with Matt Lauer to explain and apologize for his pot smoking experience. I am amazed the public is making such a huge reaction over this incident. Yes,  he smoked pot, but yes, he also did win 8 gold medals in one Olympic games. Being a young man, Phelps is going to experiment and, like most Americans, get into trouble from time to time.
