Holy birth indeed! I'm sure the first thing everyone was thinking about during this episode (at least those who read the manga) was how the rebirth scene would be handled, considering that in the original material it was pretty...weird. I'd say the animation studio handled it as well as they could, with a pretty decent amount of censoring while still keeping the creepy factor.
