Moving the Blog, well sort of…
I will no longer add new posts at this address.  In fact, there are 3 new posts at the new site right now.  The new blog is technically, 95% or so ready as I am still hashing out some design, feature, and technical issues, but it’s definitely ready to go live.  I thank all of you who have supported me over the years and I hope to see you on the new site.  I’m not deleting this blog, but know that all the posting data and comments have been transferred over already.  Once again, th... Why can’t a Muslim be from America, by Qasim Rashid
If you look up “melting pot” in the dictionary, don’t be surprised to see a picture of America.  Since its’ inception, the United States has been a haven for diversity.  At times the diversity developed organically through immigration from Europe, Asia, and Middle America.  Other times, that diversity developed through coercion vis a vis the slave trade.  However one might recognize it, America has always been one of the most diverse countries on Earth. However, one t... Read Full Story
In case you missed it….The American Muslim Radio Show
I returned to the radio Saturday September 27, 12:00 pm ET after almost a 1 year hiatus.  I discussed the Muslim Day of Prayer Event on Capitol hill and gave general observations about the accusations against Muslims in America.  While I have not decided on a regular schedule at this point, I feel refreshed, energized, and ready to return to the air regularly.  I have several good guests lined up and hope to produce a better show than it was in the past.  Hopefully, I can finish creating my i... What’s so bad about praying for America?
So what’s so bad about praying for America?  Absolutely nothing if your a sane, decent, and rational human being, who would see that as a kind gesture of peace, national unity, and pride in one’s country.  However, if your the type of person who looks in the mirror everyday and believe that those who don’ t look, act, or believe like you are the enemy, you may just have a different opinion.  If your the type with this mindset, it doesn’t matter how much the “othe... Even the hatred of Islam and Muslims should have it’s limits
I had the unfortunate experience of receiving an email from my dear sister Sheila Musaji at The American Muslim (TAM) who received an email from one of the purveyors of hate against Muslims, Brigitte Gabriel. In this email, Ms. Gabriel took the opportunity to use the death of a soldier as a means to raise money for her organization. Now it’s one thing to line your pockets and rocket to celebrity status in some sad circles in America off the hate and venom towards Muslims and Islam, but ... Read Full Story
But I keep hearing how evil Muslims are and how peaceful Christians are…..sure….
So a Muslim day of prayer is going to be held in DC at the Capital on September 25, and the venom is flowing from the “good” Christians already….Sheila Musaji at The American Muslim gave some sagely commentary and guidance.  I’m actually looking forward to Christians showing us how “good” they are. Hypocrites! How the “right” is so obviously blatant….
Now a couple of days ago, I gave a scathing commentary that in essence pretty much stated that a good sizable chunk of the GOP’s “base” that are anti-Obama everything have ulterior motives outside of what they say in public, chief among them the racial 800 pound gorilla in the room.  I truly do not believe that the majority of the “birthers”, the anti-go back to school speech crowd, the “tea party” crowd, and especially the anti-health care reform cro... The day Islam was hijacked by terrorists – 9/11
Normally, I post an article reflecting on my conversion to Islam and reflect on the impact 9/11 had on that decision, but today I have decided to sum up my reflection with May God Bless America and all humanity and give us all the strength, wisdom, and compassion to rid the world of all forms of tyranny, radicalism, oppression, and death.  That said, I decided to share an article from a dear friend and brother. Obama and Racism part II
It’s been a little over two years since my first “Obama and Racism” post, and today well actually several days ago but I’m just getting a chance to blog about it, I felt it appropriate to vent my thoughts concerning the current “political” reality the President (still has a good ring to it) is faced with under this title as opposed to: Read Full Story
The boy, or caught between commands.
My son is four months old this Ramadan, which makes me slightly disappointed. Not that he’s here, or that he’s healthy- no, I’m quite grateful for that.  But he’s too young to be weaned, even partially, which means I’m deferring fasting for another year. Read Full Story
