According to The Guardian newspaper, Hillary Clinton will accept Obama's offer to be Secretary of State. This will sure make for an interesting dynamic between the Obama White House and the Clinton camp.

Wanted to let everyone know that the next couple of weeks will probably be some scare posting. The wife and I are both going to be out of town for business and I have an event in Asheville, North Carolina to prepare for that is consuming a considerable amount of my time. So just a few tibits to post on today that has caught my mind. Feel free to comment below if you have any thoughts. 1. Does Obama really want to name Hillary Clinton as his new Secretary of State? I thought he was... Read Full Story

I'm trying to be very careful about criticizing President-Elect Obama until he is actually our president. At that point, the decisions he makes and policies that he promotes are fair game. However, President-Elect Obama is pushing a $50 billion bailout for automakers. What is yet to be determined is that if the $50 billion will be drawn from the $700 billion that was ORIGINALLY meant to bail out Wall Street. First off, I was against the first bailout, and I would hope that we don't add... Read Full Story

Congressman Zach Wamp writes why the GOP was successful in Tennessee and bucked the trend nationally. According to Wamp, and he's right, it wasn't because of McCain's coattails and it had nothing to do with Obama's race. The winning approach for the Tennessee GOP was recruiting excellent candidates and articulating a consistent message. Standing on conservative principles with a positive platform, Tennessee Republicans have changed the status quo. This election basically rolled out the... Read Full Story

I hope we all pause today to remember the brave men and women who have defended our freedom, fought for our country and even paid the ultimate sacrafice in our honor. We should especially remember the brave men and women who are overseas at this very moment in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting the Global War on Terror. I especially want to say thanks to my grandfather in Missouri who fought and received the Purple Heart in World War II. It is the bravery and honor of people like him that have... Read Full Story

For those of you committed to rebuilding the Republican Party, I highly suggest you go to, and join, this site. I think a grassroots movement like this, lead by young conservatives, it exactly the kind of effort the GOP needs. If this party is to be rebuilt in the image of the party that Ronald Reagan left us, it must be done by young conservatives ready and willing to move the party forward.

Stocks are tanking for the second day in a row, following the election of Barack Obama. As a reminder, President-Elect Obama has promised he is going to raise capital gains tax rates to 20%. Some reports are saying he could raise them as high as 28%. Yesterday the market was down 486 points, right now, it is down 346 points. This is the largest market plunge after an election in history. Folks are getting out before they are taxed to death. High capital gains taxes will discourage... Read Full Story

We should have a pretty good idea of how Harry Reid plans to "reach across the aisle" and govern with bipartisanship after his meeting this afternoon with Joe Liebermann. Of course, Senator Liebermann was a very vocal supporter of Senator McCain and even spoke at the Republican Convention. He is considered an Independent, but he has caucused with Democrats and was the former Democratic nominee for Vice President in 2000. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the Senator Liebermann... Read Full Story

Jonathan Martin is blogging on the fued between McCain and Palin. This is what we don't need! Look, bottom line for McCain, he isn't liked by conservatives. He wasn't my first choice, and for that matter, wasn't my second. The choice of Palin brought energy to his campaign that was sorely lacking. She united the base. She was bringing out the big crowds and in reality, he only rose in the polls when he selected her as his running mate. I'm not sure if Sarah Palin will be THE leader... Read Full Story

The Politico is reporting a couple of things that I think are good first steps for the GOP to rediscover itself. First, Jonathan Martin writes a piece declaring the GOP is in dire straits. He is right, but as I outlined yesterday, I think this is a scenario where it is darkest before the dawn. One particular quote in the article gave me some hope. Mainly because our leaders seem to understand what the problem is. Intermingled with the cries of anguish in GOP circles this week — as well... Read Full Story
