Little League Playoffs
Finally, what we’ve waited for all season. The Junior Little League Playoffs have started. If you’ve read previous posts, you’ll know that we had an awesome regular season, going 15-0, outscoring our opponents by more than 140 runs. We also won the City Championship game, so we headed into the Little League playoffs with a perfect 16-0 season.
Our first playoff game was against our across city rival and we won 10-0. The second game we won in the bottom of the 7th to put us in to the final game to determine who goes to the World Series - the whole reason many of the girls have been playing. Because our city hosts the girls Junior World Series, all we have to do is win District, and we’re in.
Normally, to get to the World Series, you have to win District, State, and Regionals. My older daughter played in the Junior World Series a couple of years ago, and missed going to the Majors World Series by one game, having won District, State, and losing in the deciding game in Regionals.
So, tonight’s the big night. Although I love Select, and the competition is at a higher level, there’s nothing quite like Little League playoffs, what with the fanfare, and the news coverage, and its intensity. Tonight, we play the same team we had to go to the 7th inning to beat. Should be another nerve-wracking game.
