After getting over my shock at seeing how downright fabulous Stephanie Seymour (she’s 40!) and Naomi Campbell (38) looked on the Western themed Hermes Spring 2009 runway, my attention finally turned to the shoes.
Although I couldn’t see much of a tie-in between the Western theme and these art deco shoes by Pierre Hardy, I’m a fan of the Hermes scarf ring-like shoes - I wonder, can a Hermes scarf be threaded in between the rings? And while I like the narrow platform, I suspect that the... Read Full Story
-Awwwh, sometimes dream do come true. From Nurturing Narcissism blog, “The Manolo’s are my size! …For a moment, the heavens parted! A pillar of light shone down around us; me and my Manolo’s. I heard the beautiful sound of angels singing!” [Nurturing Narcissism]

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these so let’s have a shoe showdown. Who wore Manolo Blahnik’s slingback peep toe bootie ($755 at Bergdorf Goodman) best - Hilary Duff or Becki Newton?
And since we’re in a recession here, instead of the $755 Manolo pricetag, Michael Kors has a similiar peep toe bootie (minus slingback) for a more palatable price of $149 plus Nordstroms is currently running a promo where it ships for free.

Back in my college days, I would often have second thoughts about my chosen major, computer science & engineering. Although there was never a wait for the bathroom stalls of the engineering building due to the insanely high ratio of male:female in the engineering classes (it was only time in my entire life where the boys had a longer wait time than the girls), more often than not the classes and material weren’t interesting enough to me.
How I wish the professors would have taken a cue from... Read Full Story
Ever since viewing the Karl Lagerfeld Spring 2009 RTW photos, I can’t seem to get the theme song from The Jetsons out of my head. The clothing as well as the shoes have that distinct retro-futuristic look that is reminiscent of dozens of 1960’s science fiction movies. There’s definitely a Judy Jetson goes to the dark side vibe going on here.

I have a great and not-so-secret soft spot for Viktor & Rolf.
They play with fashion. It’s not dour, rarely serious, and NEVER boring. (Don’t bore Nina, I hear Tim Gunn saying in my head, though never to Viktor Horsting or Rolf Snoeren.)
This season? Well Shalom Harlow strutted down that runway just as well as—in fact, better than—any of those interchangeable 16 year olds, and proved without a doubt that Viktor & Rolf isn’t “growing up.”
The look was origami gone insane by way of Ziggy... Read Full Story
Honestly, Riccardo Tisci. When someone comes along and suggests that the new cool thing in Parisian fashion circles is Western wear, you don’t have to listen. Really, you don’t.

Shoeblog’s love for Dries Van Noten has been well documented.
The spring 2009 Dries shoes are beauts, and no mistake.
Love those slightly curving heels! Adore the Dries trademark combination of patterns and materials.
But, dare I say it? Does this look a little tame for this normally exuberant line? I mean, they’re gorgeous, no doubt, and a lot better than some of the things we’ve seen down the Parisian catwalks (just wait for the upcoming post about Givenchy), but when I think Dries... Read Full Story
The Spring 2009 Christian LaCroix show is amazing, extravagant, playful, feminine, and most of all, beautiful. .
Everything is adorned with bold and unashamedly feminine details: From the clothing, to the jewellery, to the handbags, to the shoes.
Oh yes, the shoes; delicate chain and ribbon creations that stand as jewellery all on their own. This is candy for your feet. Delightful, delicious and decadent sandals that will make you feel like a princess every time you wear them... Read Full Story
I am not a Crocs fan. I have never owned a pair although I hear they are comfortable. They have been some of my kids favorite shoes. But, I simply can’t work myself past the visceral horror of putting something that looks this hideous onto my own feet. From what I have encountered online, I am not the only one. Heck, they make Birkenstocks look almost sexy in comparison …
Until now.
