I just wanted to take the time to update my fans on the status of this site. As many of you know, I have ventured into a new Sports pub in Avon called Slap-Shotz Family Sports Pub and have been completely tied up with the daily routines of the restaurant business. The one thing I do miss is golfing and writing articles about golf not to mention all the people I have meet over the years. I did not return to DW this season in the snack bar either. I am hoping once I get settled, I will find the... Read Full Story

One year ago, Jeff Cavicchi of N.Attleboro was sitting on a two shot lead on the 18th tee box in the Brockton City Open before making a disastrous triple bogey that knocked him down to third place. Entering Sunday’s final round, Cavicchi was in a familiar spot as he was clinging to a 2 shot lead over four players. Cavicchi had to wonder after making bogey on the first hole and a triple bogey on two if he was going to fall short once again and when I asked him that, Jeff referred to a Golf... Read Full Story

Reining fourball champion Steve Tasho completed the Brockton daily double by capturing the Brockton City Open crown on Sunday at Thorny Lea CC with the largest margin of victory in the Open’s history. Tasho headed into the final round on his home track with a comfortable 7 shot lead over both Mike Calef and Jason Cook. Tasho was pretty confident that he would breeze through the final round but still felt he needed to play well knowing that Mike and Jason were going to come to play. Tasho went... Read Full Story

The more things change, the more they stay the same. A year ago in the Brockton City Open, golfers fought off heavy rains in the first two rounds with the second round being shortened to nine holes. 2010 is a different story as tournament players enjoy sunny skies and 70 degrees while completing the first 36 holes of this competition. Although the weather is different, the leader board looks all too familiar as a Tasho sits on top in the seeded division. Last year it was Dave holding on to a... Read Full Story

The 2010 version of the Brockton City Open took off today from the Brockton Country Club missing some key contenders that we usually see towards the top of the leader board. Names like Hadges, Richard, Burrell and Parziale decided to sit this one out for various reasons. I talked to Matt Parziale on Thursday and he simply just needed a break from competition as he enjoys a month or so break in between seasons on the Hooters Pro Tour. Steve Daly Jr. took some time off from his golf internship... Read Full Story

I had the opportunity to take in much of the play at the annual Duetsche Bank over in lovely Norton MA this weekend. When you get the opportunity to watch real players play, it can be pretty special, and for me, and my 13 year son, it certainly was. Here are my lasting impressions of this weekends leg of the Fedx Cup… Martin Lairds fiance is that HOT… Laird and Paul Casey went off together [more...] Read Full Story

Brockton City Fourball- Field Division
Nine teams were within four shots entering the final round at Thorny Lea CC with Almeida-Cronin clinging to a one shot lead over Doherty-Figuerido. The final pairing exchanged blows through the first three holes then Doherty-Figuerido made bogey on 4th hole putting them two shots back. Things got worse for Doherty and Fig after making bogey on the long par 4, 6th hole putting themselves down three shots to the leaders. The DW Field dual bounced back... Read Full Story

Brockton Fourball- Seeded Division
The heavily favored team of Matt Parziale and Steve Tasho were expected by many to run away with the Brockton City Fourball title this weekend but team Carrozza/MacGovern had different ideas as they played the defending champions shot for shot in the opening round at DW Field as they both carded 9-under, 61′s on the 6000 yard track.
The plot thickened on day two at the Brockton CC as the final group did not sink their final putt until nearly 8:30pm in... Read Full Story

Round two of the Brockon Fourball took place at the Brockton CC as the area golfers were trying to get to the final round on Sunday at Thorny Lea CC. The high heat and humidity took a toll on the afternoon flight as the pace of play slowed down dramatically as the final group played into the twilight, coming in after 8pm.
Parziale-Tasho and Carrozza-Mcgovern went into today with a four shot lead and now it is one as they have some company knocking on the door with both teams carded 3... Read Full Story

Day one of the Brockton City Fourball is in the books and with all expectations, the team of Parziale-Tasho is on top of the seeded division at 9-under par thanks to a blemish free round with 9 birdies. Surprisingly, the champs of last year are only share the lead as Carrozza-McGovern also card a 61 at DW today. After making par on the first hole, Rich McGovern holed out for an eagle 3 on the par-5 second hole. They went on and made birdies on 4 and 5 before Kevin Carrozza holed out on the...
