The exhibition just wrapped and the Four Continents Cup has come to an end. I'll post my thoughts on the Pairs and Dance on Tuesday...I have to get to sleep as I have a long trek back to Illinois tomorrow. Loved meeting and hanging out with @ swandie27 , @ elizabethdehoff , and @ TimDavid_Sk8 this week...let's do it again! Until Tuesday...enjoy these two gems I found today on YouTube! Read Full Story

Today capped the end of the single events and the beginning of the team events in Colorado Springs. The day kicked off with the pairs short program. Right off the bat Denney and Coughlin killed it! And then right behind them Marley and Brubaker have a solid skate and for the longest time they were 1-2 in the standings. But Sui and Han came along and spoiled the party. They breezed through their short program like it was nobody's business and slipped just ahead of Caydee and John. Those would... Read Full Story

My day started with me rapidly trying to figure out how to get/keep the WiFi connection going so I could keep tweeting from the Arena (my phone died because I was using it as a mobile hot spot). After consulting @ csworldarena , @ PCFClub , and various other tweeps...it was decided that we would continue with the Phone-Mobile HotSpot-bit. Only this time, I had a mobile charging device to keep the phone fully charged. I ran to Best Buy, purchased one, it charged during the Ladies short, and... Read Full Story

I guess the best place to start is the top...where of course Patrick Chan (did we doubt?) is. As has been his modus operandi this season he made a major mistake...kind of falling on his quad. His saving grace was it wasn't really considered a fall since when he crashed to the ice he put all his weight on his forearm and managed his way back up. I think with a problem like that on a quad...you shouldn't be in the high 80s and basically untouchable. And he has a clear advantage in the free... Read Full Story

So I'm enroute to Colorado Springs for the Four Continents Cup . I decided to pack of the car and see the Great American Plains and drive to the event (note to self...fly next time). I'm taking a pit stop for the night and am writing this blog from somewhere in the middle of Nebraska! I'll make it a priority to post every night after the event. I'm hoping to be able to use my iPad in Arena to post/tweet in realtime! Not sure what the WiFi situation is but the fall back will be my phone. So I... Read Full Story

Sorry, crazy schedule so this is a little late. OMG...Nationals could not have gone any better if I was to have scripted it myself! You should have seen me screaming during all the free skates! I was a hot mess...turns out I win the San Jose 2012 'Queen Out' Award! As far as dance, I found it kind of boring and all so predictable. My heart really got pumping however in the free dance. First, huge props to Lynn Kriengkrairut and Logan Giulietti-Schmitt! What amazing strides they have made in... Read Full Story

Well it's a wrap in Sheffield. I reported last week that Volosozhaar and Trankov won the Pairs title at Europeans and Pechalat and Bourzat took the Dance title. The ladies title was captured by Carolina Kostner. This girl has had the worlds busiest schedule this season. She did three Grand Prix Events, the Grand Prix Final, now Europeans and she'll compete at worlds...not an easy schedule to keep. She's been dominant this season despite the fact she needs a little more technical umpf in her... Read Full Story

Very quickly, some updates on Europeans. First, Pairs Champions were crowned yesterday. Volosozhar and Trankov, looking much rested after skippping Russian Nationals, turned in a lovely performance to take the title. Noticeably absent was Savchenko and Szolkowy who withdrew due to a muscle injury suffered by Aliona. " I was a very difficult decision for us ," said their coach Ingo Steuer. " We came to the European championships and now we are unable to compete. The risk is too high to... Read Full Story

This past week, Canada's best took to the ice in Moncton, New Brunswick to declare National Champions. From my point of view, it just about went by the expected script. Amelie Lacoste slipped in for her first Canadian Title, finishing second in both the short and free. In this case consistency paid off. She wasn't perfect, singling both a lutz and flip in her free but it was good enough on a night when it didn't take much to win. Cynthia Phaneuf, just fourth after the short, won the free... It's a new year and we've entered into Championship season. Canadian Nationals are in progress and U.S. Nationals get underway next week. Of course, this year I'm not able to make it out to San Jose for Nationals and my skating icon is getting inducted into the Hall of Fame...of course! I'd totally Queen out as soon as she appeared so maybe it's better this way. But, I'm totally excited for her, I know she'll be glowing, and I'll scream with glee from home whilst watching Ice Network. So... Read Full Story
