When Virgin buys your services or your product you’ve arrived right? Well, not really but it’s pretty cool when a big, no huge, respected brand uses your stuff and you get to brag about it. Read Full Story

Liberty Park is one of the most amazing pieces of real estate in New Jersey. From there you can see Manhattan, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. You can also board a Ferry to visit these National Treasures. As a retired U.S. Army Officer another fixture at the park caught my attention, the Korean War Memorial.
I took this photo at moonrise with the light directly behind the memorial. The photo h... Read Full Story

A few years ago I had the distinct pleasure of being asked to photograph the first born child to my friends the Freeby’s. This precious gift of God is now growing into a beautiful young girl full of life and personality.
Recently, Enfant.com purchased the right to use one of the photos from that session for use as a graphic element alongs... Read Full Story

The general practice in the stock photo world is for an agency to license photos to buyers on behalf of the photographer who receives royalties while rarely knowing who the buyers are. Such is the case with most of my images sold for stock usage. I haven’t a clue who my buyers are.
I’m not content with this. When I remember to do so I Google both Daniel W. Slocum and SlocumMedia to see what ... Read Full Story

What does a retired Army Officer turned photographer do with his old gear? Take pictures of it of course!!
I had to Photoshop out my personal info from the dog tags but this is indeed a photo of one of my actual uniforms worn with pride in the service of our great nation. Thank you developpementdurable.com for purchasing the right to use this photo from Fotolia.com. The income and... Read Full Story

Water, reduces mountains to sand, it is a prerequisite for life, it represents purity, it moves me. I’ve been drawn to water since I can first remember. Waterfalls, lakes, rivers, the ocean.. all act as magnets drawing my soul closer until I find rest in their beauty or strength from their power.
Living in the Pacific Northwest is a paradise for me. Yes, we have an ab... Read Full Story

My college friend Steph has a great blog, “The Red Clay Diaries”, where she writes or posts things that are usually funny. Out loud laughing kind of funny. Sometimes, she’s serious but if you are needing a pick-me-up in the morning to augment your daily cup of coffee subscribe to her RSS Feed and hang on. It’s an “E Ticket” ... Read Full Story

I have several friends who home school, it’s a great way to forge relationships with your kids while maintaining control over what messages they receive on culture and religion. It’s also a great way to manage the difficulties of peer pressure and all the social turmoil children face in many public and private schools.
One of these friends, Kathy Kerber, uses curriculum created by... Read Full Story

I’ve been tinkering with a couple of new ideas, at least new to me. One is deliberate soft focus to achieve more of a painted look vs. a sharp crisp “HD” look.
This photo is from Mt. Rainier’s Reflection Lake. Most of the photos I’ve seen taken at Reflection Lake are of Mt. Rainier in all it’s majesty standing tall above the lake and ref... Read Full Story
