Soundtrack Review: A Christmas Carol (2009)
Movie Soundtrack Review: This is a review of the motion picture score A Christmas Carol by Alan Silvestri. “This is not a Christmas classic, but undoubtedly a score that will put you in a Christmas mood.” Yeay, Christmas is here! Well almost anyway. At least Hollywood starts early, but that’s ok. A Christmas Carol is of course one of the most beloved and remembered of Christmas stories. The famous Charles Dickens story has rendered numerous movies and adaption and will conti... Read Full Story

December is almost here and do you know what that means? It’s Avatar time! Or more importantly if you are a soundtrack geek such as me, James Horner time! I have been highly anticipating this for some time and now it’s almost here. Yesterday Atlantic Records revealed the soundtrack with a full song by James Horner! Aren’t you excited?! The sample sounds fantastic, but what is puzzling is that the track “Into the Na’vi World” isn’t on the official soun... Read Full Story
Soundtrack Review: 2012 (2009)
2012 soundtrack cover
Movie soundtrack review: This is a review of the motion picture score 2012 by Harald Kloser & Thomas Wander. “A movie like this has great action scenes and a lot of emotional moments, and the emotional moments are sadly missing from the score (for the most part)” So I watched 2012 yesterday, you know the one, the world is getting destroyed, The Mayas had this prediction long ago. It turns out to be true and the whole world goes to hell. Sounds pretty cool and the movie was a... Read Full Story
The Wolfman is Angry. Danny Elfman Has Left The Building.
So who cried wolf!? Was it you? Well see the Wolfman here on the left? He looks pretty pissed off. So I guess you’ve all heard. Danny Elfman will no longer write the music for The Wolfman. Correction, he actually did. Rumors says he wrote a full score and because of scheduling conflicts he (un)conveniently had to leave the project. Now who believes this story? I don’t see any hands. Good, because I don’t believe it either. The story about Danny Elfman leaving is absolutely t... Read Full Story

Johan Söderqvist Nominated for a European Film Academy Award
I’m glad to see Swedish composer Johan Söderqvist get some recognition. He is nominated for his wonderful minimalistic score to the vampire tale LÅT DEN RÄTTE KOMMA IN (Let the Right One in). Alexandre Desplat is of course nominated for COCO AVANT CHANEL (Coco Before Chanel). You can’t have an award ceremony without him these days and his name seems to be permanently fixed on everyone’s mind when it comes to awards. Alberto Iglesias is also nominated for LOS ABRAZOS ROTOS (B... Read Full Story
