Squidquiz: religion and spirituality quizes on squidoo
I love the new squidquiz theme. I can see myself making a whole series of lenses for each of my religion or spirituality subniches. Today I made the lens that will become my lensography for the whole series – suitably it’s also a squidquiz lens itself: Quiz: Religion facts and trivia. I’ve also made one with Christianity trivia and more niche Krishnamurti trivia and Blavatsky trivia. Read Full Story

10 simple mindfulness exercises
I was eating at an Ethiopian restaurant yesterday. For those not familiar with that cuisine, the food is served on thin pancakes and one is supposed to eat one’s dinner with the right hand. For me it was a painful exercise in overcoming my conditionings. The table went quiet: a measure of the concentration we all needed to not eat warm food with knife and fork. We were suddenly fully there: eating. In this post I’m stepping away from the abstract philosophical to the practical eve... Read Full Story
10 korte Oefeningen in Aandacht en Mindfulness
From:  overpeinzende.nl
Read Full Story

Theosophy and the Theosophical Society
The Theosophical Society was founded in 1875 at a time when the West was just becoming seriously aware of the existence of religions and people elsewhere. Intelligent people could no longer classify Islam as devilish for instance, or Hinduism as barbaric. But what then? The serious study of religion was started at universities - the first professor of comparative religion got his post in 1875. Read Full Story
Buddhist practices and religious beliefs

Karma and reincarnation facts - about good and evil
Karma and reincarnation are related beliefs that have been popular in India and surrounding countries for a very long time. Karma means action. The idea is, at it's simplest, that good is rewarded and evil punished. Or more practically put: selfishness is punished and unselfishness rewarded. The Dalai Lama puts it even more radically: From the perspective of karma it is selfish to help others, because that will be rewarded. Belief in karma means that reincarnation follows logically: otherw... Read Full Story
