Things Kids Say
We all love our children and some of the best things can come out of their little mouths that absolutely make us melt. Everything from, "I love you mom," to "that was the best dinner ever!"
And there are times when we just don't want to hear it, but it comes out any way. My son "D" was complaining of a sore throat and an earache, so of course we had to take a trip to the doctor. For some reason it just seems this year has been full of the "yuckies" for both boys and I have had my fill of caring for it.
The trip to the doctor was uneventful, we waited for the prescription and were preparing to head home. I hadn't fixed dinner and it was late from the waiting time in the pharmacy so I decided to stop at the McD's next door to grab a couple of burgers to take home and eat. I myself indulged in one of the new Iced Mochas, but was not that impressed by its overrated commercialism. I will stick to my Starbucks Fraps.
It was only a few miles to be home, and I was happy at how it seemed to work out. "D" didn't have to miss school, the doctor appointment was over, and we had dinner and smiles. The boys were playing their video games and actually being quite well behaved when I hear, "mom, I think I am going to throw up." WHAT? Oh geez, not in the car. That smell will never get out. I panic. What, what, what, where? Found it! The cheeseburgers flew across the passenger seat as I dumped them faster than lightening and handed said son the bag. Mind you it is a paper bag. Other son, "ewwww, he is barfing!" This son had not had the courtesy of telling us of his impending demise at a restaurant a month ago while he so nicely spewed everywhere while the poor people were trying to eat their dinner. I gently reminded "K", "yes, but at least HE told me he was going to get sick so I could do something about." Then sanity set back in and I realized that the paper bag that would suck up a greasy burger's residue would not be so gracious for its new contents and would give out in a jiffy. I dumped my items from the pharmacy and pulled off the road to quickly "re-bag" before we finished out trip home.
I have had my visual fill of up-chuck to last me quite a time. Hopefully this sick season will be over and I can enjoy more of the "I love you".
