I’ve reached the end of my “fourth trimester,” and in grand celebratory response to all things hormonal in this third -child-birthed-body-of-mine, I’m trying to rediscover my new “normal.”
I don’t do baths. But showers, on the other hand, can be a true moment of escapism from my world. Candles + REALLY hot water and I’ve got it made. If I hold my head just right, the water can cover my ears and drown out the nonstop crazy noise Jamin is (ideally... Read Full Story

The last few years of my life have all been a blur. When Jamin and I were childless, we had all the time in the world. Seriously. All the time I could ever want. To do anything. Ever. {We just thought we were busy. We just thought we were tired.}
I vaguely remember, as if looking through some obstructed, foggy memory, what that was like.
I went shopping. At the MALL. With FRIENDS. For CLOTHES. That were for ME.
I could do this thing called BROWSING. I could stay out as long as I w... Read Full Story

I live my life in sheer amazement at the ability of my children to transform a clean area into complete wreckage in mere moments. My kids have super powers. As in Saturday-morning-cartoons-a-la-Captain-Planet-mega-powers. They simultaneously punch their little fists into the air and some random voice from the great beyond emits itself (sometimes with giant cartoon sound waves.) I don’t usually have a chance to listen, because I’m chasing them about the house attempting to subdue t... Read Full Story

I had just settled the kiddos down for their afternoon naps. Aiden went down for the third time (it takes him a while every afternoon-he gets back up about four times to inform me he only took a baby nap, he wants to color, or his toy is orange-you know…the important stuff) when there was an incessant ringing of the doorbell. Can I just say that people who ring doorbells in the middle of the day are a little thoughtless? Side tangent: I’m seriously considering making a cute PERMA... Read Full Story

We were beginning to feel like the odds were against us the night before our first ever Mills hizzy garage sale extravaganza. We’d spent a few days clearing out, prepping and tagging. But our babysitters nearly fell through. There was a seventy percent chance of rain for Saturday. Because of those daunting stats, we decided to hold it in our garage. Only when we went to clear it and make a space for the sellapalooza, we found a rogue can of polyurethane had spilled all over the garage f... Read Full Story

Tonight, I was on my way to Jamin’s office with all three children in tow. After struggling for a good thirty minutes with sippy cups, bottles, lovies, pacies, diapers, and other random items (read: the entire house) my children were sure to require in the small 2.5 hour window in which we planned to be out, I was {Finally} well on my way. {Ah. A day in the life – no one ever told me the hardest part (for now) with three small children is getting everyone ready and out on time&hel... Read Full Story

Jamin and I have decided we need to have our movie rental cards voluntarily revoked. It’s pretty much running parallel to our history of fabulous birth control skills. Excited negligence = babies. And ominously outrageous fees via the Movie Gallery. We’re simply not responsible enough to hold the powers that be: reproductive skills and movie cards in our possession at the same time. Therefore, we are opting for a movie vasectomy, vowing never to return to the Gallery again. We rec... Read Full Story

It was sunday afternoon. Emmy was down for her nap. I was feeding Malone, and Jamin, being the wonderful hubs that he is, was washing the dishes. (yes, I am bragging.) Into the room bounded Aiden.
"Hey Daddy. I want to show you something." He exclaimed. He was very excited about whatever it was.
When Jamin glanced down from his spot at the sink, Aiden was standing below him.
What he did next is so absolutely hysterical, I can barely wrap my mind around it. Stay with me. For sheer lack of a be... Read Full Story

It’s been one step forward…two steps back in regards to all things potty training, poop, and my impossibly strong willed child named Aiden. Last week, he totally pooped in the potty again. We were so happy, we did a dance around the house, and then had a poopoo party, with balloons and a poop cake in celebration of the big accomplishment. We even invited the neighbors, who gazed strangely at the chocolate cake I prepared and muttered something about having other plans, referencin... Read Full Story

Have you ever had one of those weeks? I just did. The kids were overwhelming, the laundry is neverending, and to be completely honest, my house is a total trainwreck. It's anything but the lovely hammock scene above. I feel like this overwhelming mess is a reflection of my life right now. Jamin and I are just exhausted, and I'm now taking an impromptu vacay from the blawg until next week to refocus on a few things.
