No Crappy Gifts for Dad
From:  supermegadad.com
Father's Day is fast approaching.  Actually, much faster than I had originally thought.  I thought I still had another week left yet, but whadda ya know, it's THIS Sunday.  And if your dad is like MY dad, dad's are extremely difficult to shop for.  My dad started life as an auto mechanic, then became an aircraft mechanic for the major air carriers for decades, and is currently working his "retirement job" working on those really cool drone craft we hear about so... Potty Training - The Final Frontier
From:  supermegadad.com
About one year ago, for Princess K's two year checkup, I was sitting in the doctor's office asking him about what tact I should take for potty training Princess K.  We had a very tough time potty training Super Michael, and I was not looking forward to going through the same mine field with Princess K.  He suggested that we just let Princess K decided on her own schedule and that she would just eventually decide for herself that she was ready for the big seat. At first, that all... Read Full Story
The Last Joke of The Year
From:  supermegadad.com
[youtube:lk8Bt_PIiK4] You have got to hand it to the kid.  He wanted to tell a joke in front of the whole school the last day of school, and he did.  I'm pretty proud of him.  He has no problem getting out there in front of everybody and just putting it out there.  Things like this, I try to support him as much as I can and go over the top on praise.  I want him to be comfortable in front of large groups of people like this.  He didn't blink an eye!&n... We're Going to Mars
From:  supermegadad.com
I just thought this was just too cool not to pass on to all of my Blogging mom and dad buddies out there. Go to this NASA link, fill in your kids names and print out a certificate and when the "Curiosity" rover takes off in 2011, your kid's name (or your name for that matter) will go with it. My six year old is the perfect age to really think this is cool and in two years when this thing goes up, it will give him a reason to follow the mission and have "ownership" ... Read Full Story
The Lost Vest Odyssey
From:  supermegadad.com
The day started like any other day in the Super Mega Household: a nightmare-scared toddler that slept in the "big bed" with mommy and daddy all night while kicking me and sleeping on top of me, kids that wouldn't get up when told to get up, toddler crying all the way to daycare, coworkers complaining that stuff doesn't work via email.  But this normal morning hid a secret.  I secret so hideous and time consuming, it would shake Super Mega Dad to the core. We sha... Read Full Story
Guitar Hero, You Are My Only Hope
From:  supermegadad.com
[youtube:PFKhsFyWfB0] I know you're going to ask this question, so I'll just say it now:  NO, he is not imitating me, he did this one ALL by himself.  I believe this is actually somewhere in Lego Star Wars. We just bought Guitar Hero World Tour for the Xbox 360 and this as far as the kids have gotten with it.  In other words, not very far.  I, on the other hand, am truly a beginner.   So far, I've been the one practicing with the guitar.&nb... 1st Grade Seaworld Trip
From:  supermegadad.com
Today was our 1st Grade Seaworld trip!  Talk about excitement. The kids were acting like they just had a dozen donuts each and the noise level was just incredible, but it was WELL worth selling all those candles to our friends and families.  I'm completely sore from having Super Michael's teacher slave drive us around Seaworld (just kidding Mrs. H!) and my voice is completely gone.  I started to croak out a bedtime story tonight, but had to give up halfway through beca... What I Have Learned
From:  supermegadad.com
Being a dad, it’s almost impossible not to learn something about life.  Life’s little lessons, if you will.  Each dad learns completely different lessons (with the normal overlaps), just like each dad has completely different kids.  The lessons can be simple or complex, but they are lessons nonetheless. Over the past six plus years of being a dad, and eight years (!!!) of being married, I’ve learned a few valuable lessons in life having been around my kids... Read Full Story
I Don’t Know
From:  supermegadad.com
My least favorite phrase has become “I don’t know” or it’s derivative “I don’t remember”.  It is uttered for a myriad of different topics in this household, but it is generally the answer to questions such as '”What did you do in school today?”, or “Who broke Super Mega Mommy’s favorite porcelain doll?”, or even “Why did you pee on the carpet instead of the big girl potty?” For kids that have incre... A Day in the Life
From:  supermegadad.com
I would like to give you a little glimpse into a general day in the life of Super Mega Dad today. I work from home at least a couple of days a week, and on those days, Princess K stays home with me.  If Super Michael is off from school, he stays home as well.  But today it was just Princess K and me.  This video was taken today, near the end of my work day and a short hour from when Super Mega Mommy usually comes home.  We like to start cleaning up our messes a good ...
