I have just spent a stressful morning getting my 5-year-old ready for school.
I'm sure it's a scenario many parents can relate to - I had forgotten it's Book Day.
You know those events where the whole school gets to dress as their favourite book character and the moment parents receive the letter announcing the event they get a cold shiver down their back as their little charge declares "I want to be a dragon."
There is only so much papier mache any sane mum can handle.
And wouldn't... Read Full Story
Both of my children are bookworms.
I cannot tell you how much joy that brings me to say those words!
I can easily, really easily, lose myself for a good few hours in the pages of a novel that captivates me.
Of course I don't get to indulge myself much these days. And any books I do read usually have a dusting of toast crumbs, a smear of grease and a couple of pages stuck together with banana.
I was asked to join a book club recently by a mum at Dan's school and I snorted the laughter out... Read Full Story

My five-year-old son has discovered his willy in a BIG way.
*Mummy, look at what my willy can do!"
The 'look at what it can do' usually consists of him sitting on the toilet and pulling his tummy in tight until his willy flips up in the air, or holding the end of it and pulling it through his legs to get a girls' "twinkle". This he does while standing in front of a full length mirror. In the nude.
Sheesh, I'm not cut out for this.
"Mummy what can I call my willy?
"What do you mean, what... Read Full Story
Rip off my work shirt (stop laughing at the back please) and I am, apparently, Superman.
Well 75% anyway.
I saw this quiz and my inner geek skipped and clapped it's hands.
So for all you geeks out there, enjoy . . .
I asked my five-year-old which superhero he would like to be. He said Superman. But without the pants. And he'd like to have all of Batman's toys. And could he have a lightsabre too?
If Clark Kent's Lunchbox comes back as The Hulk or Wonder Woman then we'll know it's all a... Read Full Story
She's clearly a winner of the future - and she's trying out every sport she can before picking which one to excel in!
Daddy would be thrilled if it was rugby. Mummy's not so sure . . .

"Mummy, you really don't look 39 you know."
"Aww, thanks buddy. That's a very nice thing to say."
"You look about . . . errrrm . . . about 12."
"12!"
"Ok, not 12 . . . Tell me how old you want to look and I'll say that."

From the age of 13 I was bullied at school.
I was taunted by older girls who, for whatever reason, didn't like me or my friends.
We didn't have a 'gang'. We loved Duran Duran, sports and each other's company.
We were into make up, dancing and fashion.
We worked hard, were never in trouble (except that time I was caught wearing a 'banned' pair of earrings!) and would never dream of backchatting a teacher.
But these girls took a dislike to us.
Often, we were followed around the school... Read Full Story
Today I am taking a break from blogging to let another mum have her say!
Michelle Sperry is a working mum, a fantastic photographer and everso slightly obsessed with beauty products.
Which makes it quite ironic that she has two boys!
She's not a blogger - although she probably should be as she has a wealth of stories, a lovely chatty manner and two gorgeous boys to write about.
She here is Michelle. Be gentle, leave her a comment and tell her what you think.
I thought I would have it... Read Full Story
