How To Determine Skin Rashes On Dogs
Skin irritations such as bacterial or yeast infections and inflammation among dogs are most likely caused by excessive licking. Studies show that there are factors that trigger the infection, and to name a few are food intake, chemicals inhaled or even fleas. Some canines with heavy coats like Chow Chow and German Shepherd are the ones who are usually affected. Weather also contributes to the skin condition of dogs especially when it’s really really hot.
For an early detection, watch out for signs like inflammed skin, heairless areas that are rather scaly and itchy. These areas often appear at the innermost part of their bodies like below or behind the ears, tail end, stomach and near the genital area.
To remedy this, it is important to keep the infected area cleaned with a mild antiseptic. For an effective treatment, clip the hair around it so that the antiseptic will be better absorbed by the skin. If you don’t have a mild antiseptic around, you may opt to use a medicated shampoo.
Colostrum can also be used to prevent yeast infections. Should the hot spot continues, a visit to the veterinarian would help. There are other available information that will help guide you in caring for dogs’ skin and coat. Check out The Flying Basset eBooks for more information.
