It is winding down in my kitchen and I almost down for the count……a little fixings left to prepare before the ham and the bird hits the oven on Thursday. That’s the main event….lord knows I hope my bird don’t end up all dry and to the point that would make people roll their eyes behind my back…..I hope she is juicy and ready for the  gravy when she comes out of the oven. Oh yeah baby…..whose your mamma now? I prepping for some clinking, eating, l... Read Full Story
Chef Dee Day 3 in the Afternoon
I have been up since 3:00 AM……of course I wanted to talk and he wanted to be his loving self….something I should have been thankful for this morning but in my mind all he wanted to do was the do sexy in my mind. As women we think all men want to do is get it popping but that was not the case in my hubby mind….he wanted a simple hug but I missed that opportunity because I had collards greens on the brain. At first I was speaking with my hubby who was half awake and... Read Full Story
Chef Dee Day 3 In the Kitchen
I literally stumbled and plopped my body into the bed last night….although I like to think I am having an Martha Stewart moment and a love affair in my kitchen this holiday season. I am not Martha Stewart and must say she deserves every accolade she ever received for her contributions to cooking fabulous meals. I may not have all the proper utensils and pots to get it popping like her but being raised by strong African American women with very little is an education in itself. I wa... Read Full Story
Back In The Kitchen
Finally got back to my grind in the kitchen this afternoon after running errands and getting the final fixings for my Thanksgiving feast. Of course I turned on the dadoo-dirty show for the latest news, music, buzz and gossip. I listened to Steve Harvey early this morning and got my afternoon funk on with “The Jamie Foxx” show.  I agree with Shirley Strawberry when she said she couldn’t stop laughing about how Steve got with his boys about not answering the door when the... Old School Beans
I don’t know about you but I have a thing for beans for any occasion no matter what the holiday is….see I was raised ole’ school and I just have to throw in my whole beans, beside they are good for you because they are a great source of protein. When you go out to eat you pay about $4-$7 for a cup or bowl…at least we do anyway but that is beside the point. I started out with a pot of water with oxtails, seasoning consist of garlic slices, red pepper,  a dash of s... Read Full Story
Mrs. Fields Cookies Recipe
I received this cookie recipe over 15 years ago from a fellow classmate. This was her contribution to a classroom assignment.: A friend of ours called “Mrs Field’s Cookies” and asked for the recipe. She was told there was a two fifty charge for the recipe. She assumed it was $2.50 and charged it to her VISA. It was not $2.50 and charged it to her VISA. It was not $2.50 but $250.00. In order to get her money’s worth, she is passing the out to everyone. Full Recipe... Read Full Story
Simply Sensational Cheesecake
cheesecake2
I doubled my batch of this simply sensational cheesecake to make 2 cheesecakes. The result was this big pan and a glass pie dish size.  This was absolutely easy to make. Stick it in the freezer until ready to serve and top with fresh strawberries or cherries. 1 1/4 cups of graham crackers crumbs        3 eggs 1/2 cup Crisco Shortening, melted               3 tablespoons lemon juice 1/4 cup sugar                                                         1 1 container (8 ounces) dairy sour ... Anna’s Irresistible Pound Cake
patti
Patty Labelle has a cookbook that is filled to the brim with some fabulous recipes as well….I had the pleasure of trying her pound cake recipe as well. Her story goes….My mother in law’s recipe is the perfect “plain” cake. It’s delicious on its own with a glass of milk, but it is really great “shortcake-style,” with some sliced peaches and strawberries. Honestly I am not sure which recipe I am going with this Thanksgiving season…..too... Read Full Story
