Yes Ladies and Gents thats right if you didn’t know about a little known feature using Microsoft’s FREE Live Instant Messenger application you are truly missing out. Now of course this may not be news to some, but for those who don’t know you can utilize Messenger to talk to anyone around the world without utilizing long distance phone minutes. Now it does require you have a headset or a microphone preferably a headset. Once you have setup your headset which should be fairly easy some just as easy as just plugging it in to the computer where you see the “microphone” symbol.

If you don’t have messenger just type in “Windows Live Messenger Download” in www.Google.com and you will see a the download page for Messenger. Its a fairly quick install. Once its done if you don’t already have a Login or a hotmail account you will need to set one up. However, I won’t cover that in this post unless requested to. Once you have done that just click on the name or a name of one of your contacts that is ONLINE and in that “Message Window” you will see a greenish phone handset icon that you click if your microphone needs further configuration it will notify you if not it will begin calling that person. All they have to do is click a link that says answer the call on their end and you know have a phone conversation for FREE!

The person you are calling should also have a headset or the proper equipment as well to make it a success. If you thought that was cool wait until we write about doing a video call using Instant Messenger.
