BLACKHAWK — A blaze that ravaged a Blackhawk home Saturday started in the fireplace, San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District officials said. Residents of 696 Blue Spruce Drive said they were burning wood just before 8:40 p.m. when they noticed a “wind-like sound” coming from inside their fireplace, according to a fire district news release.
