The National Weather Service says the Richmond area is headed back into the 90s. Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, light winds and an afternoon high of 93 degrees. Wednesday should be sunny with a high near 96 degrees, with Thursday bringing more sunshine and a high near 98. There were no injuries in a fire that caused considerable damage to two houses in the Mechanicsville area of Hanover County on Monday night. Battalion Chief William Jones of Hanover Fire & EMS said the fire likely caused in excess of $500,000 damage to the houses. The fire, reported at 7:33 p.m. in the 7300 block of Highlander Place, a short distance  northeast of Interstate 295 between the Mechanicsville Turnpike and Creighton Road interchanges, appeared to have started in a garage...
