Waiting For The Promise!

2 Peter 3:13-14:13 "But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth He has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness. And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in His sight".

Isn't it amazing that, as Christians, we have so much to look forward to? The Bible says that there is going to be new heavens and a new earth and it will be filled with God's righteousness! I like the sound of that. Don't you? Imagine with me for a moment, a world very differently from what we know today. This new world will be filled with upright morality, virtue and purity and even better ... God will be overseeing all of it. Wow! That's a far cry from what we are seeing today. Huh?

As we look around us today, we see turmoil, wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes in diverse places, and natural disasters occurring everywhere. Just about every time we turn on the news, we see another devastation, another plunge with the stock market, another company filing for bankruptcy as we see the economy and governments moving more and more towards a one world society. We see Israel struggling with their borders, due to the fact that they are experiencing more and more abandonment from Nations around the world.

Our world today looks glib, but Hope is on the horizon my friend! One thing we must keep in mind ... Jesus said in Matthew 24, "Watch out for doomsday deceivers. Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities, claiming, 'I am Christ, the Messiah.' They will deceive a lot of people. When reports come in of wars and rumored wars, keep your head and don't panic. This is routine history; this is no sign of the end. Nation will fight nation and ruler fight ruler, over and over. Famines and earthquakes will occur in various places. This is nothing compared to what is coming".

"They are going to throw you to the wolves and kill you, everyone hating you because you carry My name. And then, going from bad to worse, it will be dog-eat-dog, everyone at each other's throat, everyone hating each other. "In the confusion, lying preachers will come forward and deceive a lot of people. For many others, the overwhelming spread of evil will do them in—nothing left of their love but a mound of ashes.

"Staying with it—that's what God requires. Stay with it to the end. You won't be sorry, and you'll be saved. All during this time, the good news—the Message of the Kingdom—will be preached all over the world, a witness staked out in every country. And then the end will come.

Okay ...
Now at first, we read the above passage and think ... "OH LORD, how will we endure all this? Can I just come home now?" But I want to encourage you to stay focused. Keep the end of the race in the forefront of your mind. Don't allow the world to take you off course. Don't veer to the right or to the left ... remain balanced and remain steadfast in your conviction and faith in God's unending Love for His people. God will never abandon us and He will never give us more than we can handle. Through it all ... keep your eyes on Him.

I truly believe that God is going to allow His Spirit to move in a very powerful way all over the Earth very soon. During this time ... I am convinced that His Glory will be unveiled, His Sovereignty will be unleashed and His Divine purpose will come forth. People and governments are not in control of our future ... God is. He is allowing things to take place that will lead to His perfect Will being accomplished through out the Universe! Rest in the Truth of the Word. We have already been told what the end result will create. A new heaven and a new earth filled with upright morality, and purity all overseen by God Himself!

Stay strong.
Stay focused.
Stay peaceful.
