BlogHer conference 2008 - day 2
I am just back from BlogHer 2008 conference (San Francisco) and if you are following me on Twitter, then your have been already updated, but for those who are not, I have lots of news to share.
First, let me say that I was absolutely amazed how things were organized. For the past 2 years (or so), I have constantly been traveling and attending different seminars and conferences and I can say this one was the best organized ever. Can you believe they had child care facilities and a free lunch, coffee, tea and other extras? I know that part of this organizational success is a result of their hard work for making big companies such as Cafepress, Michelin etc. participate and sponsor this event. Bravo! We all know how difficult it is to talk people into sponsoring anything, so the girls from BlogHer did a really great job.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay for more than 3 hours, but that was enough to get a great impulse after listening to experienced bloggers that are making living by blogging. This event was probably more “social” and didn’t have any value from an SEO point of view, but I actually liked this when speakers are not trying to sell something, but rather really share their experience with the audience. We all promote our businesses (one way or other) whenever we can, but what I really didn’t like about some of the conferences that I attended before, was that speakers pushed their products very hard and in most cases their pitch was all about selling their product, not about sharing or giving any advice.
I would like to share with you a great site that will save you time with editing and fixing pictures for your blog posts - www.picnik.com.The guys were supporting the conference and I decided to give it a try. Take a look at the picture that I gave a “face lift” in 3 seconds. The best part of it - you don’t have to create an account! I wish I had this free tool while I was selling on ebay 5 years ago…
Meet Picnik team:
They have enough free options, but their premium account is something around $20 per year, which is reasonable. But wait! I am thinking about running our second contest and one of the prizes will be a free year of picnik premium account.
