European Best Pictures Of The Day - April 17, 2019

The RNZAF School to Skies programme offers 40 young women from around New Zealand the opportunity to spend a week at Base Woodbourne near Blenheim to learn about all aspects of the aviation industry. They get to fix aircraft (fixed wing and rotary wing), operate a flight simulator, plan a flight mission, build electronic components and learn more about engineering fundamentals. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and aviation careers are still greatly under-represented by women in New Zealand. The School to Skies programme, now it its third year, aims to encourage women to join the industry through practical experience.
