Basque Country International Contact Group Summit

The summit aims to certify the definitive end of the terrorist group ETA as an organization. ETA released on May 3 a final declaration read by a historic leader Jose Antonio Urritikoetxea 'Josu Ternera'. ETA announced a permanent ceasefire in 2011. Created in 1959 at the height of the Spanish dictatorship of Francisco Franco, The Basque terrorist group was blamed for killing more than 800 people during its violence campaign for the independence of the Basque Country.
