Swiss Spy Trial Nears End
Daniel M. (C) is seen with his lawyers Hannes Linke (L) and Robert Kain (R) as he arrives for his trial on charges of spying for the Swiss government on November 2, 2017 in Frankfurt, Germany. Lawyers are to enter their pleas today following a written confession by Daniel M. to the charges in which he admits having spied on German tax agents on behalf of the NDB, the Swiss federal spy agency. German tax investigators were seeking to buy CDs listing German citizens who were evading taxes by diverting their money through Swiss banks. Employees from several Swiss banks did sell German authorities such CDs, which led to the exposure of thousands of tax-evading Germans.
