Armistice Day Services Are Held Throughout The Country

First World War Veterans Harry Patch, aged 110 (l) and Bill Stone, aged 108 (r) look contemplative after laying a wreath at the Cenotaph on November 11, 2008 in London for a commemoration service to mark the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War. Veterans gathered at the Cenotaph for a ceremony that included a two-minute silence observed at 11.00am, the moment when the Armistice Treaty was signed by the Allies and Germany in a railway carriage in the Forest of Compiègne, France, bringing to an end four years of conflict.
