Coal Miners And Energy Workers March For A Fair Energy Policy

Stanislaw Tillich, Matthias Platzeck and Barbara Praetorius (L-R), heads of the commission, attend a meeting of the commission from the federal government that is assessing policy needs for the region as Germany seeks to diminish its reliance on coal and move faster towards a higher percentage of energy production from renewable energy sources on October 24, 2018 at Bergheim, Germany. The meeting coincides with a march of coal miners and electricity plant workers to demand a fair energy transition policy. Bergheim and nearby Elsdorf are in an area dominated by open-pit coal mines and some of Europe's biggest greenhouse gas emitting power plants.
