Bundestag Commission Investigates NSU Murders

Bundestag MP Petra Pau, Ombudswoman of the Bundestag NSU Investigation Commission, arrives shortly before the arrival of Heinz Fromm, outgoing head of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Bundesamt fuer Verfassungsschutz), who was scheduled to testify at the Bundestag NSU Investigation Commission on July 5, 2012 in Berlin, Germany. Fromm announced his resignation Monday following the disclosure that a Verfassungsschutz employee shredded important documents related to the NSU neo-Nazi murder trio closely after the trio was exposed last November. Uwe Mundlos, Uwe Boehnhardt and Beate Zschaepe, who in the 1990s were active in the Thueringer Heimatschutz and later called themselves the National Sozialistische Untergrund (National Socialist Underground) claimed responsibility in a DVD for the murder of nine immigrants and one policewoman over a ten year period in what has become the most embarrassing shortfall in modern German law enforcement.
