60th Anniversary To Commemorate The Liberation Of Auschwitz-Birkenau
Dutch Queen Beatrix lays a candle at the main memorial during ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camps at the former concentration camp known as Auschwitz II, or Birkenau, January 26, 2005 in Oswiecim, Poland. Approximately 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, died at the hands of the Nazis at Auschwitz before the Soviet army liberated the camps.
