Mehdorn To Lead Managment Board Of New Berlin Airport

Hartmut Mehdorn, former chief executive of Air Berlin and Deutsche Bahn (L), and German Transport Ministry State Secretary Rainer Bomba leave at a news conference on March 8, 2013 in Berlin, Germany. Mehdorn was appointed head of the management board of the city's new airport, Berlin Brandenburg International (BER), which has been plagued with delays in its opening over the past year and a half. The position has been unoccupied since January, when Rainer Schwarz stepped down from it after it was announced that the new airport's opening would be postponed for a fourth time until at least 2014.
