Aftershock Fears Send Thousands Of Chinese Out On To Streets
(CHINA OUT) Residents stay outdoors in the campus of Sichuan University in an attempt to avoid the effects of any earthquake aftershocks on May 20, 2008 in Chengdu of Sichuan Province, China. Thousands of Chinese have taken to sleeping outside on the streets and in parks after a major earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale, the worst in 58 years, jolted China's Sichuan Province May 12. The death toll is now estimated at over 40,075 people and is expected to rise, as 100,000 military troops continue rescue operations.
