(CHINA OUT) Fifty-four-year-old farmer Liu Kaisheng cuts bamboo stems for the manufacture of handmade paper at the village of Tianwan on August 17, 2008 in Pengshui Tujia and Miao Autonomous County of Chongqing Municipality, China. All the 18 households in the village keep the ancient method of papermaking; involving cutting bamboos, immersion, fermentation, grinding, filtration, drying and other procedures. The paper is mainly used for packaging of local farm products.

'Nanxi Haozi', or songs sung during labor, is listed on the state intangible cultural heritage, dating back to the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907).
