I don’t know who Burke Lashell is, or even what country he’s from, but I do know this: he’s now a hero in my eyes. Because not only did this guy build his very own MAME cabinet, something I’ve longed to do ever since I first heard of the retro-tastic emulator, but he built it into a bar.
The “MAME bar” features controls for four players as well as an inconspicuous looking wall-mounted flastcreen TV. Rumour has it that this guy’s wife wouldn’t let him have a home arcade in the basement, but... Read Full Story
What happens when you smash an old Atari 2600 and a Guitar Hero guitar together? The Atari Hero of course. Conner over at Slippery Brick has done just that. This crazy casemod is a real beauty. The guitar is wrapped in a custom circuit board pattern, and in place of the strum bar is a tiny (i mean real tiny) LCD screen so you can enjoy all of that 8-bit action. Hot on the heels of the Atari 2600 Portal remake comes this excellent 2600-inspired box art from the-minusworld. Yearning for a simpler time before over-the-top logos and visuals were the norm, they’ve imagined what the box art for Portal, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, GTA4, No More Heroes, Halo 3, God of War 3, and Resident Evil 5 would’ve looked like if these games were available back in “the olden days”.
Now all we need is for someone to port the games to the old... Read Full Story
By the time you read this Multiwinia will have been out for well over a month and, if the word coming out of developers Introversion is anything to go by, the game perhaps hasn't done as well as they'd have liked so far. There's a few reasons for this, the biggest being (and this is something that plagues any indie developer) that not many people have heard of it. This is a terrible shame because every game Introversion has produced has been by turns ingenious, engaging and entertaining... Read Full Story
