Whitney Thompson Becomes America's First Plus-Sized Top Model

After weeks of challenges, posing and runways, the winner of America's Next TOp Model, Cycle 10, has been chosen. Whitney Thompson, received the honors, and became the first plus-sized top model to win the competition. If you ask us, she looks pretty normal. But apparently in the model world made up of seriously tiny women, normal sized = large?

It came down to Anya Kop and the 20-year-old from Atlantic Beach, Florida. Fatima Siad, the third runner-up, failed to make a lasting impression after the Cover Girl audition, and was sent home.

Kop, a 19-year-old, originally born in Russia, impressed the judges with her Cover Girl commercial, but in the end Thompson's confidant personality, stunning photos and ability to pose with ease made her the winner.

Like the winners before her, Thompson will receive a cover and six-page spread in Seventeen magazine, a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl cosmetics and representation from Elite Model Management.

She joins the ranks of past ANTM winners Yoanna House, Eva Pigford and that crazy girl that married the ex-Brady Bunch kid.

The 10th cycle winner of America's Next Top Model is.... full figured, plus size!!! It only took ten seasons to finally have a gorgeous model with real curves to emerge as America's Next Top Model. I'm very happy for Whitney, a 20 year old student from Atlantic Beach, FL. Anya, the runner up this season and a heavy favorite along side with Fatima ( Iman look-a-like ) let her nerves get the best of her. Which was evident during the final fashion show featuring designs by Donnatella Versace. My personal favorite was Claire to bad she got cut mid season. Overall, this season was fabulous and of course filled with drama, drama and more drama. And of course, Tyra's face is still everywhere, i.e. the Mona Lisa postcard. Congratulations, Whitney. You go girl!! Goodluck to all the models.

Thank you Tyra! I thought I was going to have to boycott the show (especially after Fatima left) but the judges pulled through and made Whitney (instead of Anya) the new America's Next Top Model!

I must say it is a good day for normal sized girls and I am happy for Whitney. However, this season of the show was flat. I was bored. Maybe I have been watching too long and I am cynical abut these girls, or maybe the girls had very little personality. Whatever the case I was not excited about the finale last night at all. Now don't get me wrong, I am glad that Whitney won and was hoping it would be either her or Fatima but just watching the commercials for Cover Girl made me cringe. Not one of these girls nailed it and made me say yeah she has the stuff to go far. Plus neither Anya nor Whitney, on the runway for Versace, was all that impressive.

I am not sure what needs to be done for the next cycle but something has to. the same old format is not working anymore. The cheesiness has gotten old and the excitement has worn off.

But kudos to Whitney and her real size body. I hope that her winning was not a publicity stunt because Tyra knew the season was ho hum. And goodbye to Anya. I have to say thank God I never have to hear her speak again.

Yaya's Got A New Job

I really don't watch the soaps, so this is for those that do.

Yaya Dacosta from America's Next Top Model is coming to All My Children. The model-actress hyphenate has been cast as Cassandra Foster, the daughter of Dr. Angie Hubbard (Debbi Morgan). She first airs on April 25. Many will remember Yayaas the runner-up of Season 3 of America's Next Top Model. Despite not taking the prize, she's enjoyed a successful modeling career, including campaigns for Sephora, Garnier Fructis and Olay. Acting gigs followed, such as a starring role in the film Take the Lead with Antonio Banderas.

Yaya's character, Cassandra, was adopted by Angie and her ex-husband, Jacob. Cassandra made her debut on ABC's The City. In that soap's final episode, Angie and Jacob (played by Darnell Williams, who currently plays Jesse on AMC) found an abandoned Cassandra and brought her home with them.

Cassandra's all grown up now, and she arrives in Pine Valley to meet her mother's first (and current) husband, Jesse. Don't expect the family reunion to be all roses, though: Cassandra will be pulled into the sinister plan Rob (David Rasche) has for Jesse.source
