The word ‘balance’ is often used in skincare and health talk. I can’t help but think of myself delicately trying to balance on a beam. Did anyone else have to go through the balance beam drill in school? I could NOT stand it.

I was terrible at it to begin with but in addition to that it seemed like it was too little too late. I mean if you’re in junior high and have lousy balance is 20 minutes per week going to turn that around? probably not. Very very annoying. Anywho, I survived all that thankfully so I’m now balancing with a foam cleanser.

A delicate and light botanical scent, just a tiny little bit goes a looong way. You probably know NARS for their makeup, now it’s time to get to know NARS skincare a little better. I’m so happy with this product, maybe my expectations were low, thinking NARS does such a great job with makeup, there’s little chance they can get so much right. I stand corrected, not only is NARS makeup awesome, so is NARS skincare.

5 Summer Skin Savers

We all know that having the perfect skin in the summer months is very important. Especially if you want to wear those skimpy outfits to show off all your curves.

Body Acne

Body acne can make the most confident person insecure. Trust me, I know from experience. I tried for 6 months to get rid of my acne and it’s finally gone. Hot, humid weather often causes the oil glands to overproduce, resulting in acne on the back and chest. Unfortunately Back and chest acne is much more difficult to get rid of than facial acne. To prevent “backne” wear loose fitting clothing with moisture-wicking fabric to help release trapped moisture. To eliminate acne, wash with a medicated body bar/wash containing salycilic acid, glycolic acid or benzoyl peroxide. What I used, and is sure to work, is Stridex Maximum Strength Pads with 2% salycilic acid (No Alcohol) and Pan Oxyl Bar with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. Remember to give this treatment a couple of months, acne doesn’t go away quickly. In fact, it might get a little worse in the first month since everything will be coming to the top.

Dry Skin

Sun exposure, tanning, dehydration and repeated dips in the pool can leave your skin dry and flaky. You can prevent this by exfoliating and moisturizing regularly. Make sure the exfoliating scrub is not to rough, you can actually do more harm than good. It is best to stick with a sugar scrub or a real fine salt scrub.

Ingrown Hairs

Ingrown hair, or razor bumps, are caused when the shaved or waxed hair gets trapped in the hair follicle and grows back down into the skin. To avoid this don’t pull the skin to taught when shaving and apply light pressure on the blades. If this still doesn’t work, you might want to talk to a dermatologist about permanent hair removal. If you already have ingrown hairs, use a product with salicylic acid or glycolic acid to exfoliate the upper layers of dead skin around the trapped hair. Then take tweezers and pull the hair out of the follicle without removing it completely. Then take a cream with lactic acid directly onto the razor bump to help soften the skin so the hair can emerge.

Poison Ivy

Make sure to be careful when you are camping or hiking because nothing can ruin a vacation faster than poison ivy. You don’t have to be in direct contact with poison ivy to contract it, in fact you can still pick it up while petting your dog or touching clothing that was exposed. To prevent from getting poison ivy, cover yourself from head to toe if going out into the wild and if you happen to accident come in contact with this plant, immediately wash that area and take off that specific clothing. To eliminate poison ivy, apply a cool wet compress to relieve the itching. Add ground oatmeal or baking soda to your bath or make a paste with either of these products by adding just a small amount of water and apply it directly to the rash. Consider using a lotion with calamine, alcohol or zinc acetate. Do not pop the blisters! If you still can’t bare the itching talk to your doctor about some oral medication you can take.

Sunburn

To eliminate sunburn, apply cold compresses to help reduce the body temperature. Apply pure aloe gel, calamine lotion (if itchy) and a gentle non scented lotion (to prevent peeling). Drink a bunch of water, but avoid alcohol.

Skin break-outs can be a downer? How we hate to have them, don’t we? But in this day and age; with the worldwide pollution and stress ever present, it’s kind of difficult to attain flawless skin. People often find choosing the right product suited for their skin very challenging. It would really be like going through a process of trial and error to come out with the right skin care product for you.

Here are some tips though to help you get along and not lose yourself in the tons and tons of skincare products advertised out there all claiming wonders. First of all, know the skin problem you’d like to address. Some skincare solutions may address just one problem or if you’re lucky, two or three. Here’s how to go about it.

-Pay particular attention to product information and ingredients.

The product must always have detailed information available and clearly explain how to use it. Now, some research may be required on certain ingredients, particular unfamiliar terms and elements that went into the formulation of the product. Who knows, an element or two my or may not really be suited for your skin requirements.

-Take a look at the manufacturer

If you want to get a good product for your skin then you should always take into account product reviews or their endorsements. Is the company a respected one with a good track record? Good products are most likely recognized by skin experts and professional organizations engaged in skin care health.

- Stick to the directions please.
