Dave Stewart of Eurythmics Fame Resurfaces

Dave Stewart, for years, was half of the hit Brit musical duo The Eurythmics in the 1980s but when the partnership with singer Annie Lennox (on her own for years) ended, the British artist found other means to express his creativity. The guitarist, singer and music producer released a new album, The Dave Stewart Songbook, Volume 1 on Tuesday and will embark on a tour with a "rock fabulous orchestra" in late August.

Stewart, 55, has sold over 75 million albums with Eurythmics. He and Ms Lennox disbanded the band in 1990 but reunited nine years later for the album Peace. He described his role on Dave Stewart Songbook as being similar to a big band leader in he 1940s or 1950s, by bringing together the talents of several artists at one time. The album showcases songs Stewart co-wrote with Gwen Stefani, Jon Bon Jovi, Sinead O'Connor and Tom Petty, and is being released with a book describing how the songs came about. Stewart states his collaboration with these top pop music's names was a result of several lucky breaks. For example, he bumped into rock singer, Jon Bon Jovi in the English countryside as Stewart was delivering photos to Demi Moore that he had taken of her while in India. The event turned into at a star-studded dinner party that ended up in a jam session. With Bon Jovi on guitar, Moore's at-the-time-husband, actor Bruce Willis, was on a harmonica with Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York chatting in the background. Stewart and Bon Jovi worked out a riff from the jam and the song "Midnight in Chelsea," was born. This tune found its' way Bon Jovi's 1997 album Destination Anywhere. Other songs featured on the album include the timeless "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," a Eurythmics hit, "Don't Come Around Here No More," Tom Petty's classc, and "Underneath It All," which Gwen Stefani originally recorded when part of the band No Doubt. Stewart plans to tour with a support band and an orchestra. How many members of the orchestra will depend on the space at each venue, the shows will have anywhere from 26 to 36 musicians on stage.

The North American tour begins in Kettering, Ohio, and has stops in San Francisco and New York. It ends on September 21 in Washington, D.C.

According to entertainment news Jon Bon Jovi will have a free concert on Central Park's Great Lawn on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Starting at 8:00PM. Although the show is free, people still need to get tickets for admission.

The latest update is that Jon Bon Jovi said at a news conference recently with New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and other officials, at his side that he travelled the world again, and New York is still the greatest city in the world." So the band has gotten a chance to do what happens to be the most successful tour this year, which is a free concert for anyone in New York City. This happens to be a dream come true for Jon Bon Jovi. This is something he has always wanted to do, and he is finally doing it, according to celebrity news.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. on the park's Great Lawn and will not be televised. Fans will be allowed to enter the area beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available beginning July 2 at baseball parks as well as at events throughout New York. The fans are hoping to get some some great celebrity pics and videos of the band being that it will not be televised.

The band's "Lost Highway" tour starts July 14-15 with a pair of Madison Square Garden arena shows in New York.

Years ago there were always concerts at Central Park with big name artists like "The Cars", "Blondie", and many others. This may be an invitation to have other artists also want to have concerts in Central Park, just like many years ago.

Bon Jovi/Habitat for Humanity Partnership

Jon Bon Jovi may be from New Jersey, but on Monday he was helping save Detroit, one house at a time. The rocker announced he was helping to build five homes on Detroit’s east side, thanks to Habitat for Humanity, the city’s Saturn retailers and his own Philadelphia Soul Charitable Foundation, via his arena football team of the same name.

The last home on a construction site was torn down and a wall for a new house was erected, which is great news, especially if you’ve ever been to Detroit’s east side.

Jon is the first Founding Ambassador of the Habitat for Humanity Ambassador program. His support for Habitat for Humanity began in 2005 when he provided the funds to build six homes in Philadelphia and worked to build the homes with the homeowner families and members of his Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team.

Later, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Jon Bon Jovi surprised Oprah Winfrey with a check from his band for $1 million. Bon Jovi, Habitat, and Oprah’s Angel Network built 29 homes in Houma, La. with low-income families previously displaced by the natural disaster.

Then, in October 2006, Jon announced a unique partnership he brokered between Project H.O.M.E., the newly formed Philadelphia Soul Charitable Foundation and Saturn to renovate 15 row houses in one of Philadelphia’s most poverty-ridden neighborhoods. Including those 15 homes, Jon is currently a motivating force behind a total of 60 homes being built in partnership with low-income families.

Iconic New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi will play a free concert in Central Park on July 12, mayor Michael Bloomberg announced today (June 30).Alongside frontman Jon Bon Jovi, as well as officials from Major League Baseball and Bank of America, Bloomberg outlined the details of the event at a City Hall press conference.

The show, billed as an "All-Star Concert in Central Park," will take place in conjunction with the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which is set for July 15 at Yankee Stadium."We've gotten the chance to bookend what is the most successful tour in the world this year with a free concert for anyone in New York," Bon Jovi said.

"I just traveled the world again, and New York is still the greatest city in the world."The concert will take place at 8 p.m. on the park's Great Lawn and will not be televised. Fans will be allowed to enter the area beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available beginning July 2 at baseball parks as well as at events throughout New York.

The majority of the tickets will be available at Yankee Stadium, but will also be available at Shea Stadium and at the parks of the Brooklyn Cyclones and Staten Island Yankees. Additionally, tickets will be available through radio sweepstakes, promotional giveaways and in-store programs. Fan can also get tickets at MLB.com.

No more than 60,000 tickets will be distributed in an attempt to maintain the safety and integrity of the lawn's grass, Bloomberg said. "Our interest is in keeping the park open and making sure at the same time that we protect the investment the public has made," he said.Bon Jovi said fans should expect a full-blown rock show despite the restrictions in place to protect the grass. "This will be our major stadium production," he said.The band's "Lost Highway" tour wraps July 14-15 in New York.
