How George Foreman Can Make You Healthy!

posted by gorx

He definitely has one of the most charismatic personalities ever, which has probably lead to George Foreman becoming far more well known for the “Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine” that bares his name, face and signature than any of his boxing achievements ever will. (According to Wikipedia, this boxing champion fought in 81 bouts, winning 76 of them.)

Today I don’t want to talk about this man’s life or his boxing triumphs. I want to talk about the grill that he has become so famous for. It’s strange really because most people attribute the product to him but in reality - George Foreman is just a celebrity face on the box - he didn’t invent the grill nor does he work in a store that sells it. He just promotes the thing… weird isn’t it?

Anyway, the Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine is one of the biggest selling indoor grilling tools in the World and for good reason. Unlike many cooking techniques, the grilling machine allows you to basically put any food stuff in between the hot plates and grill it in a matter of minutes.

Not only do get really tasty food, but the grill has been entirely designed around getting as much fat out of the food as possible. Because you’re basically squeezing what food you put into the grill between to hot plates, you automatically entice any fat out of the food.

Take a look at the picture on the right of some of the fat “extracted” with a George Foreman grill. Now, just think about what problems that fat would have caused you if you had ingested it? You could expect higher cholesterol levels amongst a range of other heart & organ problems.

That’s why I believe in the Lean Mean Fat Grilling Machine so much. It gives you an amazingly easy way to cut a lot of excess fat out of the food you’re about to eat, thus meaning that you’re far less likely to put on weight in the form of excess fat. Not only that, but your whole body is spared the punishment of having an extremely fat-rich diet.

What’s more - you can grill almost anything in these grills! You don’t have to grill just meat - you can grill anything from fruit to bread too. It’s a great way to make healthy food with little effort. That’s why Project Fat Loss recommends you purchase a George Foreman grill for your own foods. You can get them from Amazon.com here.

 Amazon.com Widgets

She has single-handedly reached the epitome of respect and love that is humanly achievable in India, and rules millions of hearts with her simple and extravagant recipes.
Born in Pune, the newly-wed Mrs. Dalal moved to Bombay after her marriage. In 1966, she started cookery classes form her residence. Her classes become a phenomenal success with a long list of students wanting to join them. Its very well-known that every Indian girl learns to cook at an early age, and at one time, it was said that "If you want to get your daughter married, send her to Ms. Dalal's Classes". This was because students attained guaranteed cookery expertise after attending her classes. It may sound funny, but it sure depicts how this lady was gaining ground fast in the culinary field. From a tiny crowded kitchen she moved to bigger and better places not only in India but internationally too like Tokyo, Jakarta, Honkong, Singapore, Brussels Antwerp, Lisbon, Zurich, Nairobi, London, Toronto, New York etc.
She hosts many television shows on Indian forefront, the current favourite being "Cook it Up with Tarla Dalal". She's also a regular contributor to several publications, newspapers and magazines. She has published more than 100 cook-books on different topics like vegetarian food, international cuisine, baby food, pregnancy-related food, diabetic recipes, fast food, healthy living, soups and salads and much more. She's truly the unmatched Cookery author since two decades!! Wow, if that's not an achievement, then what is!! Try this one - She was awarded the Padma Shri on Jan 26th 2007 by the President of India to her contribution in the field of cookery.
Lots of chefs and aspiring cooks use her recipes, and novices like me look up to her for guiding us on the path to attain culinary excellence. With more than 11,000 recipes to her credit, she's truly the queen of Indian cooking arena. This legendary yet down-to-earth woman dedicates her fame to her husband and his love for food. It was him who motivated her to start cooking different recipes andsharing them (Hmm..sounds familiar!! Read my profile on the home page:))
When asked about her advice to young chefs, she says - "Patience, dedication and hard work"
Her favorite food quote - "Haste Khelte khana Pakao" (Cook with a smile on your face)
Share your thoughts about her and join me in celebrating this enigmatic persona called Tarla Dalal. Please visit the actual blogsite at http://funnfud.blogspot.com

Georgia Teen Is Named Best Teen Chef 2008

posted by suzytino

ATLANTA (GA) – A Georgia teen turned up the heat in the kitchen on Saturday, May 17, emerging as “Best Teen Chef 2008.” Jonathan Miller of Savannah, GA won the Best Teen Chef Final Round Competition, sponsored by The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes, becoming the ninth winner to lay claim to the title since the Competition’s inception in 2000.
Miller won a full tuition scholarship worth more than $48,000 to study Culinary Arts at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Atlanta and the opportunity to serve as “Intern for a Day” at the Food Network Kitchens.

Aldo Sandoval of Emporia, KS and Joaquin Gaytan of Mesa, AZ earned second- and third-place honors, also receiving full-tuition scholarships toward an associate’s degree, certificate or diploma program at one of The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes.

Thirty-one high school seniors from across North America converged at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Las Vegas to slice, dice, and sauté their way through the grueling two-hour competition in pursuit of more than $250,000 in tuition scholarships and the title of Best Teen Chef 2008.

Competitors were given two hours to prepare three dishes from an Italian inspired menu of Braciole Calabresi - Stuffed Pork Bundles; Peperonata - Peppers Sautéed with Olive Oil and Capers; and Orechietti con Carciofl - Orechietti Pasta with Artichokes. The teens were judged on cleanliness, taste and presentation and more by the program’s chef educators.

Miller credits his mother as his inspiration for cooking. While he was growing up, “every day we would sit together and watch ‘Great Chefs of the East’ and ‘Great Chefs of the West,’” said Miller. “This simple, daily act instilled in me a passion I hope to turn into a career.” He would like to pursue a career where he can achieve the same levels of satisfaction and pride as when he is experimenting at home.
Chef Michael Nenes, Assistant Vice President of Culinary Arts for The Art Institutes, said, “Each year, the caliber and talent of the students who
compete for the title of Best Teen Chef becomes more impressive. The key to the Best Teen Chef Competition is to come with your game face on and be ready to out-cook the competition. Training, focus and determination – all qualities of the most successful chefs - are paramount. Jonathan Miller distinguished himself throughout the competition, and the judges were very impressed with his excellent culinary skills and talent.”

My Current Favorite Kitchen Tool

posted by MealMixer

I was over at Mizfit's the other day and they were talking about this blender. Pah! I commented, that's a silly thing that would be a pain to wash. This got me thinking about my Kitchen Aid Immersion Blender, a/k/a stick blender, and all the love it gives me. Everyone should have this tool. Shakes? Smoothies? Mashed potatoes? This thing handles them with ease, and then there is one simple part to clean.

Yesterday I wanted cornflake crumbs, but did not want to pull out the blender or food processor (and was not in the mood to do the zip top/rolling pin thing). So, I put cornflakes in a deep measuring cup and got...cornflake rain! Amusing, but not what I had in mind. So, I tried covering the top of the cup with plastic wrap, but turned on the blender without holding the handle of the measuring cup, so, again, cornflakes everywhere. I must mention that the dog was enjoying this very much. SO, on the counter was a stadium cup. You know the one that you get at sporting events that holds more soda than anyone needs? And you really really wish your spouse would NOT buy the children or at least bring home the evidence? As if bouncing children weren't enough? Well, I took that, cut a slit in the lid and then enlarged a hole for the blender stick. Voilà, crumbs and no (more) clean up! Oh, as for that that cannister in the picture, mine got turned into a firefly catcher. Complete with holes in the lid. So I can't comment on it, except to say that it is way smaller than the measuring cup I was using.

If I can find a way for the stick blender to grind meat or make dough...the big appliances are going to be banished to the basement pantry.
