He was 89-years-old, and one week away from his 90th birthday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Arnold was known as a pioneer of &amp;quot;Nashville Sound,&amp;quot; a mix of country, folk and pop. His first No.1 hit was 1947&amp;#39;s &amp;quot;What Is Life Without Love.&amp;quot; His most recent album was released in 2005, and titled &amp;quot;After All These Years.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Arnold is survived by his son, Richard Edward Arnold Jr. and daughter Jo Ann Pollart, both from Brentwood, a suburb of Nashville. His wife of 66 years, Sally, died in March.</description>
