[EN] This is how the English countryside looked like in the middle of the warm winter that I spent there. [RO] Astfel arăta superbul peisaj rural englezesc în mijlocul iernii calde pe care am petrecut-o eu acolo.

[EN] And even when it rained, I adored the weather in the UK, as it was far better than the freezing days in Eastern Europe or the dreadful winds and rain that I had to endure over the English Channel, in Brittany (la Bretagne). [RO] Şi chiar când ploua, adoram vremea din UK, căci era mai bine decât zilele geroase din Europa de Est sau vânturile groaznice şi ploaia pe care a trebui să le îndur peste Canalul Mânecii, în Bretania (La Bretagne).
[EN] As for how good the roads are (sorry for the lack of clarity of some pics; it was the sunlight bouncing against the double decker’s front window :), how nice the houses look like, and what a sublime shade of greeen the grass has, throughout the year, I guess it’s pointless to make any comments… [RO] Cât despre ce bune sunt drumurile (scuze pentru lipsa de claritate a unor fotografii; era lumina solară lovindu-se de parbrizul autobuzului cu etaj :), ce drăguţe sunt casele şi ce nuanţă sublimă de verde are iarba de-a lungul întregului an, cred că este fără rost să fac orice comentarii...

[EN] A dear friend from the blogosphere drew my attention to this little story that those who like my “This alcohol, a Brit’s…” series will surely like. Yes, this how narrow-minded some of our contemporaries are, but I wouldn’t go as far as to claim this is only a typically British feature; stupidity has no nationality:( [RO] Un prieten drag din blogosferă mi-a atras atenţia către această povestioară care le va plăcea sigur celor cărora le place serialul meu „Alcoolul ăsta, cel mai...”. Da, aşa de înguşti la minte sunt unii dintre contemporanii noştri, dar nu aş merge până într-acolo, încât să pretind că aceasta este numai o trăsătură tipic britanică; prostia nu are naţionalitate :(

[EN] Nevertheless, this guy honestly describes a feature of British civilisation – the extreme formalism. Although the blogger seems a bit too harsh for my (generally tolerant and benevolent) approach to people I meet everywhere I may roam in this world, I’m afraid that his story is 100% true. [RO] Cu toate acestea, tipul acesta descrie o trăsătură a civilizaţiei britanice – formalismul extrem. Deşi bloggerul pare un pic prea aspru pentru abordarea mea (în general tolerantă şi binevoitoare) faţă de oamenii pe care îi întâlnesc pe oriunde aş umbla prin lume, mă tem că povestea lui este 100% adevărată.

[EN] I don’t know if the owner of this site will keep on sharing impressions from the UK, but I found some other interesting ideas on his online diary. For instance, his view of modern women bears striking resemblaces to my perspective, extensively detalied throughout my series “Women in the UK.” [RO] Nu ştiu dacă proprietarul siteului va continua să-şi împărtăşească impresiile din UK, dar am găsit şi alte idei interesante pe jurnalul lui online. De pildă, opinia lui despre femeile moderne are asemănări uimitoare cu perspectiva mea, detaliată pe larg de-a lungul serialului meu „Femeile în UK”.

Interesant, cred, mai ales ca Patapievici sustine ca este o opera reprezentativa a noilor artisti romani.

[EN] Few things are more unpleasant for such a romantic like I am than seeing how the consumerist society of today promises love as it promises anything else: cars, holidays, jobs and careers, delights of whatever kind, happiness (?!)… Everything can be sold and bought, although nothing is as priceless as a human soul and the love between one man and one woman. [RO] Puţine lucruri sunt mai neplăcute pentru aşa un romantic ca mine decât să vadă cum societatea consumeristă de astăzi promite dragostea cum promite orice altceva: maşini, vacanţe, slujbe şi cariere, desfătări de orice fel, fericire (?!)... Orice poate fi vândut şi cumpărat, deşi nimic nu este mai nepreţuit ca un suflet omenesc şi dragostea dintre un bărbat şi o femeie.

[EN] It’s so stupid how they promise (on a double decker bus!) to find your love in six months. When anyone can find love only in the Lord – both His love, and the love of a husband or wife. Even the heretics or irreligious who are in love (therefore I’m not refering to those who just follow sexual impulses) , are in love by God’s mercy. [RO] Este aşa stupid cum promit ei (pe un autobuz supraetajat!) să-ţi găsească dragostea în şase luni. Când oricine poate găsi dragostea doar în Domnul – deopotrivă dragostea Lui şi a soţului sau soţiei. Chiar şi ereticii şi nereligioşii care sunt îndrăgostiţi (aşadar nu mă refer la cei care doar îşi urmează impulsurile sexuale), de la Dumnezeu sunt îndrăgostiţi.
