Happiness Is Easier With Friends

posted by AnnieRob

Image by luc legay via Flickr

A new study has come out about social networks and it has proven something most of us have suspected for many years: the more friends you have the happier you are. PHYSORG.COM

Now this is very true and most of us know it, however I have a teenager and he is the last of 4 children and all of them had to go through the age of wanted lots of friends and thinking they had to change themselves or appear different in some way to have and to hold those friends. This in my experience only leads to un-happiness.

So in line with adding to the research I would like to add a few Rules of Friendship (for everyone but especially for our teens):

If you have to act, think or be different in any way from who you are to have a certain set of friends, they are not your friends. They don’t even know you, nor you them because all of you are acting differently from who you really are.

If you have to lie or hide what is going on with your friends from your parents, think again. Those friendships may (I said may) not be good friendships. a little hint with parents, they are not actually trying to make your life miserable.) Most of the time parents just want to keep you safe, yes some parents may not take the time to really get to know your friends and disapprove before knowing the facts - but this is still their aim. We love you, so much we would do anything even make you hate us just to keep you safe.

If you want friends - first you have to be one. Friends are people who are there when you need them, they are a shoulder to cry on and a smile in a crowd. Friends know when you need a good laugh and a good cry. Friends do not ever make you do something illegal or dangerous, not ever. Good friends are like parents, they want you to be safe and feel loved. Friends are the family you bring into your life.

You can tell a person is your friend when: it makes you happy to be with them, they want the best for you, they know you are wonderful and amazing even when you don’t, they help you feel good about being you, they let you cry on them, with them and for them, they make you laugh and smile most of the time. Friends, real friends never (well hardly ever) compete with you, never put you down, never get jealous of your good fortune or your looks or your luck with the opposite sex, they never, ever put you in danger or allow you to put yourself in danger.

Good friends love you, just the way you are.

live a balanced life…

"Our" Kyani Story with Asperger's Syndrome!

posted by ntweekes
Kyani came into our lives in the Fall of 2007. We all tried the products (mainly the Kyani Blueberry Juice Blend) & went through the Winter months with NO CROUP Or Flu! Our Daughter has gotten the Croup Every Year around the Fall/Winter for the past 4 years, sometimes twice a year! She would do "breathing treatments" & be on a steriod drug for days. So, to our surpise when she didn't get it last year at all.... we were Thrilled! ~ Needless to say, we were all Pretty Healthy through those "icky" months! It gives you a "boost" of energy!

We also (Tom brought it to my attention) started noticing that our oldest son, who later became diagnosed with Asperger's Syndome seemed to be showing a little more "Focus" & control. He wasn't having as many "meltdowns" during the day, & seemed to be doing better at school as well. Our oldest son (L.) was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in Feb. 2008. Tom & I pretty much knew a lot about it, so it wasn't a huge shocker to us. It was like having weight lifted off of our shoulders, we finally had an Answer to a lot of our questions!
Kyani came at a perfect Time for us. Our Oldest had just been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, for those of you who are currently raising or caring for a child or children with A.S. or any other "special needs" children can re-late. For those who are not familiar with AS, it is on the Autism Spectrum & their is "no cure" for it. It Varies with every child who is diagnosed with it. AS usually has a carrier with it, either ADD or ADHD along with it. You can treat the ADD or ADHD with a prescription if needed, but Tom & I didn't want to "medicate" our child with all the side effects that could possibly come with it. We are/were currently happy with him taking the Kyani juice every day & decided to keep him on it & see what happens. With the Kyani Blueberry Juice being a Natural Supplement we knew that their wouldn't be any Side Effects!
The one thing that children with Asperger's Syndrome DO have in common is they lack "social skills". Kids with AS don't really know how to read "body language", which is 80% of our language! -- Huge! They have to be "taught" how to engage in a conversation, & try & stay "focused" on different subjects other than the "one" they are most interested in. Our Son has a few subjects he has learned everything about & that seems to be ALL he talks about most of the time. Conversations with a child with AS is usually a one sided conversation, and it's almost Always on "the subject" they know the most about. It can be really hard for them at times to talk about other things. Children with AS also DO NOT like Change! Routine is Best! He LoVes taking his Kyani!
I have also noticed on myself that this year was the FIRST Year without my Allergies taking over my life! -- I have Allergies, BAD!-- every Year(twice a year), For years!!! My Allergies usually "kick" in around the same time as my fathers, so I gave my mom a call to see if my dad's allergies had "kicked" in & they had.... she proceeded to tell me the new medication he was on to help him. I thought to myself.... WOW, I've been Fine! -- For the First Time in Years! (Decades) Thanks Kyani Blueberry juice!

Ok, so here is the "real" Miracle! I went to Our Son's school along with my daughter to get her registered for school. We had Lunch with L. (our oldest son) & his teacher (resource teacher) proceeded to tell me that L. has been going back into the classroom since the beginning of the week to do "centers" with the other kids! I almost started to cry! When L. first started going to this school he didn't want to be in the classroom & couldn't handle being in the classroom with all the kids, it was too "overstimulating" for him. He wanted & chose to be in the Resource Room (which is next door to his regular classroom). We just wanted a "happy" child, no matter what classroom he was in. He started being introduced back into the classroom in mid April (which we thought wouldn't happen 'till next year-- whenever L. was ready) & is adjusting very well being back! He's in the classroom with an aid to help "teach" him how to interact appropriately with the other children! This is HUGE News for any child with AS!!! I Know for a fact Kyani has helped him be the best he can Be!

We tried a little experiment with the whole family these last few weeks. I didn't give anyone Kyani blueberry juice for a few weeks to see what would happen. Since L. was on track break, it wouldn't affect him at school. Tom & I immediately noticed within the first week L. was having more "meltdowns"! Or "Meltdowns"-- period. (L. hadn't had any for a long time, we couldn't even remember when the last one was) We kept him on a pretty steady schedule while we did this, so that wouldn't affect him. I started to come down with a cold, "allergies". So, I thought, ok.... experiment over! With L. being back on Kyani, we started to notice a change again in him around the 3rd-4th day.

All in all~ From the time L. & all of us starting taking The Kyani Juice for the Very First Time & Tom & I started noticing a change/difference in him it took anywhere from a month to two months.
The Changes in him that we can tell as his parents are HUGE enough for us to keep him on the Blueberry juice & possibly give him another drink of it by mid day.... this will be our next experiment!
We are not, in any way, suggesting that Kyani Blueberry Juice Blend & the other products are a "cure" for children or even adults who have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome or any other children who are on the Autism Spectrum or any other carrier(s) along with it. This is just "us" Tom & I, educating what we know & what we have discovered to "help" with our children & ourselves in our lives to make it it better, without ALL the Side Effects!
If you are interested in a "FREE" sample bottle of the Kyani Blueberry Blend, or just have more questions, you can get our contact information off of our other website: http://www.blueberries.mykyanilife.com/

Thanks Kyani, You have Improved our Quality of LiFe In More Ways than One!

Success, One Mistake at a Time

posted by eristoddle

I am a dumbass when it comes down to it. I was going to list a whole bunch of mistakes I have made here, but then realized that some of them make me cringe when I see them. I start a project as a perfectionist and when I finish it, I am an impatient asshole. And my running stats are win one and lose five or something like that.

The one thing that I see that separates me and many other online marketers from a lot of people who I have met and who have asked me how to make money online is that I am not afraid of looking like a dumbass. I also am not afraid to break something.

This is not rocket science. This is not brain surgery. No one is going to die if I mess up. So sitting and thinking about what I could do if only I knew how is not going to get me anywhere. And I thought this was what being American was about, a "do it yourself" attitude. For those reading from other countries, I am not a flag waver but I will use it for effect.

But some time ago a lot of us got lazy. We don’t have to know about how the car works. We have a mechanic. We don’t have to worry about our health or what we eat. That’s what doctors are for. We don’t have to worry about our kids. That’s what the schools are for. There is always someone to do it for us.

Even school. I can’t learn that. I can’t afford college. What? Everything is in a freaking book. A piece of paper on the wall doesn’t help me with my advertising campaigns. It doesn’t get me higher pay from my boss, me. And it better be printed on gold and cover the whole wall.

I had to learn some things because I was flat broke. I have been doing that since I was a kid. We couldn’t afford some things when I was young so I build things like scale catapults out of tree limbs that could launch random objects over the neighbor’s house. Beat that with your BB gun.

Money didn’t stop me when the only real requirement was knowledge and action. The computer books from the clearance rack at Compusa would be good enough to start and that’s how I started. Or I could have just dreamed about the time I could afford a $60 book. Anything that can stop you, will.

So you want some mistakes. Here goes:

I had a site called profit-ware.com. My first. I used all the seo techniques I learned to get it ranked. But I didn’t know how to check the rank at the time and I wasn’t sure how to monetize it. It was a year before I did. A few weeks after I did I was making $100 a day from it. I could have been making that much the whole year before that.

But that is not the end of that story. I monetized it by republishing the Clickbank marketplace on the fly without any caching. So basically you would land on a monetized page and the script would grab a page from Clickbank and print it out. Each and every time. That would have eventually caused an issue, but Google got me first and banned my site.

I built a site that took the top 100 search phrases expanded them by using the Overture keyword tool and then used a blog search engine to find matching posts. It was just an experiment. It wasn’t monetized in any way. That SOB got some traffic. I could look at my stats and find hot "long-tail" terms right away before that term "long-tail" existed. But again, I did it with out any caching and the blog search engine I was using frowned on my site and cut me off.

I built a social bookmarking site when there were only about 50. On a shared host. It was a few months before the host said I had to shut it down. I was using more than my share of the processor.

First hand experience is better than learning from a book. I know the consequences of my mistakes first hand. I didn’t break anything. Google banned a site, but from what I learned, I had a new site making money within a couple of months. And now I catch issues similar to this within a week or so.

Which is why I giggled a little when the last round of Google updates went around. "Stop whining. I had a site banned and came back. You just lost your blue ribbon for a while. Boo frickin Who"

There are other hosts and other sites and other ways to make money. I did not mention all of my mistakes. I have been through five hosting providers and it wasn’t my choice to leave. Now I lease my own box.

It hasn’t been easy. I actually had to get off the couch every once and while and do stuff myself. Well I guess that’s a lie. I work at the computer.

So my #1 piece of advice. Don’t be afraid to break things. Don’t be afraid of being stupid. Don’t be afraid of anything that keeps you from moving forward, because fear is your enemy, Yes, people used to get burned at the stake and hung for mistakes and for being different. Now they only get sent to Guantanamo. Not that bad.

Average, Normal, and Regular

posted by eristoddle

Right now, by all accounts, I should have 1.2 kids, be $10,000 in credit card debt, and have had two major car accidents by now. But not one of these is right.

Numbers and stats work on averages. You pay the insurance premiums you do because of averages. How often does your "type" of person have a car accident? How many years sooner does a smoker die than a non smoker? If you’re under 25 and male, you are throw in with a pack of reckless idiots, who by their car insurance premiums, must have caused every car accident ever known.

I shave my head because I am going bald and "one size fits all" doesn’t when it comes to baseball caps.

I make money from one of my credit cards. It gives miles back. I run it up and pay it off monthly. The average person doesn’t. The average person leaves a balance and his interest eats up all of the miles he earned. He is essentially paying me with his "average" mistake. And by not being average with my credit card, I make money where the general population loses it.

Poker is a game of chance, yet the same names always show at the last table of the World Series of Poker.

The average affiliate marketer make less than $100 a year. The average blogger quits after a month. I didn’t look those up, but they’re pretty close. All this says to me is that being average sucks.

But the numbers can stop you in your tracks. They used to stop me. Until I realized it was a choice. I can listen to the numbers and choose to be average or just stop listening when statistics come into play.

The average is where normal people stop. To be more than that, you just have to take one step over the line. And then the numbers start working for you. You will make money by using a credit card. You will learn enough about statistics to play better than average poker. You will be blogging on day 32. And you will find a way around the fact that no one makes clothes that fit you.
