Saddam Hussein's former vice president has been hanged in Baghdad for the killings of 148 Shiites in Iraq more than 20 years ago. He is the fourth man to be executed for the killings. Taha Yassin Ramadan asked to be buried next to Saddam Hussein.

"The tribunal found Ramadan guilty without evidence linking him to the horrific crimes committed in Dujail," said Richard Dicker, director of the US group Human Rights Watch. "Ramadan was convicted in an unfair trial, and increasing his punishment from life imprisonment to death reeks of vengeance."
