One of the great things about “City Life” in Tampa, or anywhere in the World, is the ability to walk to shops, restaurants, schools and more. I’m a “City Mouse”. I have enjoyed life in cities where I walked, hopped on the tram, or traveled by train every day!

At Walkscore, you can check the “walkability” of any neighborhood! What a great idea for someone new to town, or looking for a house in a specific neighborhood.

What is The Architectural Review Commission and How Does it Affect My Home in Tampa? Tampa Real Estate News…

If you are moving to Tampa, or buying a home in Tampa, you may wish to consider moving to one of the historic neighborhoods. Tampa has three designated historic districts: Hyde Park, Tampa Heights and Seminole Heights. If you live in one of those historic districts, any new construction, or remodeling to your home, must be reviewed by the Architectural Review Commission(ARC), to insure the integrity of the district in maintained.

It is important that Real Estate Agents inform buyers about the requirements involving the ARC . The City of Tampa has a comprehensive website, which details the guidelines for each district: Hyde Park, Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights. You can review all of the requirements for your neighborhood, print an application and receive the information about Tax Incentives!

Some days I need to take a little break from chatting about the Tampa Real Estate Market and talk about some of the “cool” places in town. Vintage Wine Cellars, on Henderson Blvd, in South Tampa, is a great place to be on Friday nights for a taste of some interesting wines! The staff is amazing, and incredibly knowledgeable, about all of the wine regions. They always have a new “find” that you must try!

Restaurants in Tampa’s Ybor City

When you are buying a house in Tampa, or have just moved to the area you will be searching for the best places to eat in Tampa!

Ybor City is Tampa’s “Latin Quarter”. Reminiscent of parts of The French Quarter in New Orleans, it was home to many cigar factories in the early 20th century.

Seventh Avenue, also known as “La Septima” and its’ historic buildings have been restored and Ybor City is home to some unique restaurants, including the world-renowned Columbia Restaurant with its’ legendary flamenco dancers and Spanish cuisine. Acropolis Restaurant, features Greek food and weekend entertainment. Have a bite of Moussaka or flaming saganaki and you will be hooked!

Bernini features creative Italian food in a bright, renovated building. Longing for a romantic evening…La Terrazza has just a handful of tables in its’ intimate dining room and will entice you with wonderful Northern Italian specialties.

Big City Tavern, located in Centro Ybor, is upscale American cuisine with great steaks, seafood and pasta. The bar is a nice spot for the happy hour crowd, too.

After dinner, step across the street and sit for a while at King Corona. You can enjoy a cigar, a glass of Sangria, or just watch the crowds walk by!
