A Tory candidate doesn’t like the Calgary Herald?

Journalist and former Tory candidate Arthur Kent has filed a defamation lawsuit against Canwest Publishing Inc., and writer Don Martin.

He says they derailed his chances at a fair campaign because an article, written by Mr. Martin during the election, was inaccurate and damaged his ability to raise funds.

"What we’re here for is a matter of grave infringement on Alberta’s political culture," he told reporters Monday.

Arthur Kent has settled two other lawsuits in the past.

1,400 Flames Playoff Tickets available per game

"Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today at least 1,400 tickets per game for the first round of the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs will be available for purchase via three outlets – through www.calgaryflames.com, at local Calgary Coop stores, at all Calgary and select surrounding area Sport Chek locations.

Six hundred (600) tickets per game will be available to purchase through an on-line registration draw at www.calgaryflames.com beginning today (Friday, April 5th). Once a valid e-mail has been submitted it will automatically be entered into the draw for each playoff game. Previous draw winners will remain eligible to win the opportunity to purchase tickets to future games.

Registration closes at 9:00 a.m. two (2) days prior to a playoff game. www.calgaryflames.com registration winners will be contacted via e-mail at 1:00 p.m. two (2) days prior to the game and have 24 hours to purchase tickets. Winners are limited to two tickets per game. Tickets will be available in multiple price ranges for each game through the draw.

Any unclaimed tickets through the lottery will be made available at www.ticketmaster.ca one day prior to the game. Beginning 5:00 p.m. on the day of the game, final remaining sales will take place at the Pengrowth Saddledome ticket office only.

All Calgary Flames season ticket holders, Hot House members (Calgary Flames official wait list), game pack holders and Calgary Hitmen season ticket holders with a registered e-mail address with the Calgary Flames will automatically be entered for every 2008 Calgary Flames home playoff game for each round.

Five hundred (500) of the tickets will be available for purchase through all Calgary and select surrounding area Sport Chek locations (Red Deer, Medicine Hat & Lethbridge). Sport Chek Zone playoff tickets will be available through a random draw at participating stores. Please visit your local Sport Chek store for specific details and draw dates. Draw ballots will be available at all participating Sport Chek stores beginning Saturday, April 5. Sport Chek Zone tickets are $40.00 each including SPFF & GST.

Two hundred (200) tickets will be available for purchase at local Calgary Coop stores. Calgary Coop tickets will be available through a random draw. Fans will have the opportunity to enter at individual Co-op stores and winners will be determined by random draws through the playoffs. Please visit individual Co-op stores for more details. Draw ballots will be available beginning Tuesday April 8 at all Co-op stores.

A special allocation of One hundred (100) tickets will be available for purchase at the first Hitmen home playoff game of round 2 on April 8 versus the Swift Current Broncos. All fans in attendance at the Hitmen game will be given a lucky number upon entry. A random selection of numbers will be announced during the Hitmen game and winning fans will be able to purchase tickets to one of the Flames first 2 home playoff games. Winners will be required to purchase tickets at the Ticketmaster windows in the Pengrowth Saddledome until the end of the game. Any unclaimed tickets will be directed to the main playoff registration.
