posted by brucew

Official MN DNR report on The Lake Weed Roller from Lake Weeders Digest LLC New Hope Minnesota Summer 2008

Stay tuned to this blog as we bring you a new series including several excerpts from a recent report by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Below you will find facts as reported in an April 2008 report on the “automated unattended aquatic plant control device” ie; the WeedRoller that is available at http://www.WeedRoller.MN. From here on, we will interchange the name WeedRoller and “AUAPCD”.

Alright, as you read this, please understand that we are trying to educate our customers and potential customers of the benefits of The WeedRoller. Will it come off like a commercial? Maybe but these are quoted facts from an Minnesota State official report. If you want our editorial comments on this report, contact us at 877-224-4899.

The AUAPCD had a higher satisfaction rating than other methods of aquatic plant control. When asked, “were you satisfoed with your AUAPCD”, 98% of those responding indicated that they were satisfied with these devices.

This is an impressive number when you consider the low satisfaction of lakeshore owners using more traditional means such as chemicals. The percentage nearly drops in half. (We will share that in a later post.)

There are other AUAPCD devices that make up this percentage and based on my field experience, I am 100% certain that some of these other devices actually drag down the 98% (no kidding). We may discuss that in a later post or just call us and we can cover it by phone.

Stop back regularly as we share key information on lakeshore management as reported by a well respected, well studied government agency.

Thanks for stopping by! If you’ve got lake management concerns ASK US… We will have an answer!

Bruce Wahlstrom http://www.WeedersDigest.com and http://www.WeedRoller.MN

As it's linked rollers rotate along the lake bottom, the WeedRoller detaches existing weeds and agitates the lake bed. This prevents more weed growth, for a clean, sandy lake bottom and a pleasant swimming area. The WeedRoller easily attaches to any dock or can be set up on an optional tripod. For initial clearing, operate the WeedRoller continuously until the area is cleared.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Standard Unit will stand in up to 4-1/2 feet of water at the "Drive head". The WeedRoller handles the Job."

Dale Danielson: Eagle Lake, MN.
"Many weeds and 4" of silt. After 1 year with WeedRoller, I have no weeds and bottom cleaned up dramatically... The real bonus was bottom firmed up, no silt and muck left. It worked great!"

Lynn Cupkie: Big Pine Lake, MN.
"We were so overpopulated with weeds. I wouldn't even go in the water. Now we have a beautiful swim area-hard and totally weed-free bottom. We think your WeedRoller is one of the best things we ever invested in."

Jeff Muller: Wall Lake, MN.
"The bottom line for me is that I bought a home on this lake 2-1/2 years ago. I have three children. Without a beach or area to swim for my children the reasons for living on any lake would be greatly diminshed... Without the WeedRoller I'm not sure if I would still be living at this address. The WeedRoller is one of those products that has been succesfully sold by word of mouth and by referral. If a new WeedRoller lands on someone's shoreline, it takes very little time before that neighborhood adds another, then across the bay, the lake, the county and the state.

The biggest draw for most lakeshore owners is that they can define the area of weed control to their specific swim area. Most people that have kids swimming in the water prefer The WeedRoller rather than pouring chemicals in that will drift - and who knows what the long term effects are. We believe that the WeedRoller is better for the environment that the alternative methods.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

You may be required to have a permit in your state

Many US states have permit requirements. Please be certain to inquire with your state agency. We have included a guide (when you click on the link below) but please be advised that the information is dated as you will see the date stamp. THIS IS A GUIDE. We strongly recommend that you contact your agency regardless of the information found on our site.

Why a permit? Click here for more info: STATE PERMIT REQUIREMENTS

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Why Do Some States Regulate The Use The WeedRoller?

POINT: Environmentalists are concerned that a WeedRoller has the ability to remove vegetation, lift silt and compact the bottom with a final result being a hard, packed, weed free, sandy bottom.

COUNTERPOINT: Yes, The WeedRoller will create a hard, packed, weed free, sandy bottom in a specific, defined area. However, it is our opinion that many lakeshore owners will do what they want to do to develop a small swimming area near their dock. Using an automated system that is typically stationary with the dock creates less environmental risk than harsh chemicals that may drift far from the application and are often applied without proper knowledge.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The WeedRoller retails for $3,295 but The Weeders Digest offers an introductory special price of $2,975 for a limited time only! Spendy? Yes, but consider the recreational value it will bring to your shoreline NOW and when and if you were to sell your home or cottage. We know of realtors that recommend the WeedRoller to clients that are soon to list their waterfront because of the increased resale value that a nice solid lake bottom will bring. Think R.O.I. !

If you are local to Minnesota: Consider renting a WeedRoller from the WeedersDigest. We only have one unit for rental. There is an 11 day minimum meaning there are only a few spots for the summer. Reserve your weeks today.

Contact The Weeders Digest for more information by email at info@weedersdigest.com or by calling 763-551-1441

How Do You Firm Up A Mucky Lake Bottom? The WeedRoller Automates The Process By Removing Lake Weeds and Muck

posted by brucew

Using The WeedRoller to improve your waterfront. Lake weeds and a soft bottom have always hindered the ability to enjoying a beachfront suitable for swimming and fun.

Using a method that will continually agitate the lake bottom can dramatically reduce or remove lake muck. Rakes and lake weed cutters are effective but time consuming. The Weeders Digest has teamed with the Crary WeedRoller to offer a machine that will reduce muck, silt and aquatic weeds while dramati

cally reducing the effort to improve any shoreline.
Minneapolis, MN (PRWeb) January 17, 2007 -- The Weeders Digest Help Desk has added another innovative tool to benefit lakeshore owners called the WeedRoller which uses a sweeping arm to remove aquatic vegetation and weeds, muck and silt in front of a dock or pier to clear a swimming area or beach.

The WeedRoller uses a breakthrough pivot design that slowly rolls along the lake bottom, while detaching weeds from the soil and agitating the lake bed. The aquatic weeds can then be quickly and easily gathered with a lake rake and disposed of. Once the initial clean up is complete, it requires only occasional use to keep it weed free. The result is a cleaner, firm, natural lake bottom, ideal for swimming and water activities. The WeedRoller easily mounts to a dock in minutes, is environmentally safe, and requires about the same power it takes to operate a household light bulb.

For many, the WeedRoller offers a more environmentally friendly solution than damaging herbicides and chemicals which are also costly and oftentimes ineffective if improperly applied. Herbicides typically require a permit, but lakeshore owners often take the chemical application process into their own hands rather than complying with state and local regulations. Applying herbicides requires more knowledge than most homeowners posses. Irresponsible use could negatively impact the environment. This process should be left to a professional applicator rather than the homeowner.

A permit may also be required for operation of the Weed Roller depending upon the state where it is installed. Contact your state for specific regulations. Permit information can also be obtained at www.WeedersDigest.com .

In addition to the WeedRoller, The Weeders Digest continues to offer a wealth of tools, tips and education for lakeshore management. Other shoreline solutions include lake rakes and water weed cutters such as the Beach Buddy, Beach Groomer, WeedShear, Aqua-Tiller, Aquatic Vegetation Groomer, Arrow Tooth, Lake Bottom Blanket, AWE, Aqua Blaster, Scott Aerator, Kasco Fountains and Midwest Rakes.

There is a lot of info here but if you need more, contact the WeedRoller Help Desk at 763-551-1441 / 877-224-4899 or just visit The Weeders Digest for more information videos testimonials and photos at you will find a huge amoutn of WeedRoller info here: http://www.WeedRoller.MN or go to our Master Website by clicking here: http://www.WeedersDigest.com

Pond Care and Lake Management - NOW is the time for action!

posted by brucew
As summer begins to wind down and fall gears up, frustrated lake and pond owners that have spent the summer overwhelmed by weeds, muck and algae decide that now is the time to give up on managing their waterfront and hope that next year will be a much better year.
However, if proactive steps are not taken now, there is a good chance that next summer will be worse!

Now is THE most important time for waterfront maintenance!

* If you allow the vegetation to die off naturally (or chemically), it will settle to the bottom, create another layer of muck and provide a nutrient rich fuel for algae blooms and next years plant growth. Be proactive and take control by removing the plants mechanically now. http://www.LakeWeeds.MN
* Many invasive weeds such as eurasian water-milfoil are self-fragmenting. If they are allowed a natural die-off, they will fragment on their own and are likely to replant in other areas of your waterfront.
* Future growth of cattails can be dramatically reduced by cutting below the waterline in the late summer. This is not an easy project unless you have the right tools. Our Aquatic Vegetation Groomer, Lake Mower and WeedShear (in that order) are capable of getting it done.
* Lily pads are working very hard at this time of the year to develop a stronger root system to expand their reach further next spring. Removing the pad at this time will weaken the entire root system. All of our cutting tools work well on lily pads.
* The bottom muck and organic sediment should also be reduced by raking, WeedRolling or using our Muck Digester pellets. This effort will reduce future algae and weed growth for years to come.

So, if you want to increase your enjoyment next summer, be proactive and make the commitment right now for the future.

If you do not have the tools available to accomplish these important tasks, here is another great reason to consider making the investment into your shoreline right now: We are certain that nearly all of our products will increase in cost this next spring. Some costs have increased substantially and have already been passed on to us and we will need to do so in the spring.

Oh, one last reason to apply your greatest effort right now:summer is not over - why not enjoy your waterfront before fall arrives!
