posted by Warband
Well done David to you and all your activists

David Owens, British National Party by-election candidate in the Fenside ward seat on the Boston Borough Council, Lincolnshire, has beaten all comers, piling up more votes than the Tories, Labour, Lib-Dems and UKIP combined.
The incredible result, achieved on a 22.1 percent turnout in Thursday’s election, saw Mr Owens cruise to a comfortable win with 279 votes. The second placed candidate was an independent, who polled 141 votes. Next came the Tories, with 119 votes, Labour with 64 votes, UKIP with 24 votes and the Lib-Dems with 23 votes.

“The BNP campaign was fought on national issues, and on immigration in particular,” said Councillor Wayne McDermott, the BNP’s East Midlands election officer.

“There are two important implications in this result,” Mr McDermott continued. “The first is that there are a large number of similar wards in and around Boston, in which this result could easily be replicated. Boston therefore has the potential to become a key area for the BNP.

“The other important factor is the total collapse of UKIP. In the 2004 Euro elections, Lincolnshire was one of the strongest areas to come out for UKIP, and it is clear that the BNP has now surpassed that group as the premier anti-EU party of choice for those voters.”

Source

Just as an avalanche starts with just a few small pebbles starting to slide down a mountain, so also does the avalanche of the BNP start to gather momentum with every new councillor.

The British National Party will gather such momentum that it will sweep away the traitors, perverts and pedophiles currently shaming Parliament and make Our Islands the land fit for heroes that our Parents and Grandparents fought and died for.

If you are one of the few decent Lib/Lab/con Councillors who genuinely became a councillor to serve your community, then start thinking about moving over to the British National Party whilst you still can. You will be made welcome.

Whilst here. Commiserations but a big well done to John Hoodless and his team who put up a good showing in the Darlington North Road by-election. Next time John, next time. Use the wrong expression and it’ll come back to haunt you.

Today, the Commons considered the Vulnerable Children legislative competence order in committee.

During the course of the debate, the Plaid Cymru MP, Adam Price, referred to the Welsh Assembly as a “laboratory”.

I’m not sure that the people of Wales, who in exchange for their taxes no doubt feel entitled to expect stable, sensible government, will be too happy to be told that Plaid regard them as guinea pigs.

The BNP say 2+2 is still 4

posted by Warband
Yeah right. They wish.

OK I said I would write about it and so I guess I had better do it now. Earlier on in a previous post I mentioned Edinburgh University. So here we go.

According to the academics living in their Ivory Tower at Edinburgh and indulging in only incestuous thoughts with each other, they have carried out a survey in which they proclaim that those who vote for the British National Party are of low intelligence.

THE brightest children go on to vote Liberal Democrat or Green, according to a survey.

The study by Edinburgh University researchers has found that childhood intelligence is linked to voting preferences and political involvement in adulthood.

The study – which looked at voting patterns in the 2001 general election – found that those with higher IQ ratings were more likely to vote Lib-Dem or Green in an election.

The survey – including cognitive tests at ages five and ten – was followed up with a study of voting habits at 34. Those who voted Green had an average IQ of 108.3, with Lib-Dem voters just behind at 108.2.

Conservative and Labour voters were further behind – with scores of 103.7 and 103.0 respectively, while voters for Welsh nationalist Plaid Cymru scored an average of 102.5. Scottish National Party voters had an average IQ of 102.2. The research also showed that British National Party voters had the lowest average intelligence – scoring just 98.4. Non-voters were found to have an average IQ of 99.7.

Before ripping this argument to bits, one first wonders if they would wish to carry out a survey in which the average intelligence of different races is assessed. No? That would be far more interesting and the results would most certainly reveal that all races may be equal but when it comes to intelligence some races are just brighter than others. No that would not do for the marxists of Edinburgh University.

They give no details of how many people were surveyed and how they chose their subjects. But one can guess. Very selectively. So let me give you the results of my personal survey that I have been conducting for over thirty years on the intelligence of your average patriotic True Brit.

How many fingers? What is 2+2? In the Orwellian State of today of course the "official" answer is 5.

Every single British National Party voter was able to add up correctly the figures in the following image and come up with the correct answer. Too much. £8.8 Bn too much.

Geography

Every single British National Party voter was able to point out on a map both Iraq and Afghanistan where British Soldiers are still dieing and being maimed in illegal wars.

History

Every single British National Party voter is aware that it is White History Month and know exactly who our real, True British Heroes are.

During the last European Elections, almost a million people voted for the British National Party. We in Wales have striven for decades to achieve full language rights and yet we have still some way to go.

The present oppression of Kurdish is even more extreme than that faced by Welsh speakers in the darkest of times. We have supported Kurdish people over many years, including supporting the campaign against the Ilusu dam, a project which echoes the drowning of the Welsh speaking community of Capel Celyn in Wales by the Council of the English city of Liverpool in the early 60s.

We are certain that disciplined non-violent action is a potent and highly moral force in the face of official oppression. We are glad that both Kurdish and Turkish people are campaigning for peace.

We are certain that full language rights for Kurdish is an essential step towards achieving that peace.’

Hywel Williams MP added ‘I’m sure that our Kurdish friends will be encouraged and inspired by Cymdeithas yr Iaith’s decision here today. Cymdeithas has always had a commendable internationalist view of the language debate as well as a determination to adopt and promote a non-violent philosophy of struggle.

I am glad that they have joined my party Plaid Cymru in calling for a just settlement of the Kurdish people’s predicament. This cannot be achieved without settling the language question by full emancipation of Kurdish.’
Peace in Kurdistan.
For more information contact: Peace in Kurdistan Campaign
estella124@tiscali.co.uk Tel: 020 7586 5892

Agreeing with Peter

posted by prospero1b
I’m finding myself, increasingly often, in the uncomfortable position of agreeing with Peter Hain. It never happened while he was Secretary of State for Wales; in those days I almost invariably disagreed with everything Peter said.

However, since Peter has returned to the back benches, I find that a lot of what he says chimes substantially with my own way of thinking.

It happened first during this year’s St David’s Day debate, when Peter told the House that the private sector in Wales is too small:

“If both Welsh living standards and the economic competitiveness that underpins our prosperity are to grow as we all want, the private sector needs to grow significantly and at a relatively much faster rate. To achieve at least equilibrium with the rest of the UK and the OECD countries, Wales must move towards a private sector of around 55 per cent. of Welsh GDP. To achieve that in the next 15 to 20 years, we will need year-on-year growth that is around 1 per cent. faster than the UK average—no mean feat.”

I agreed with every word of that – save that I would like to see an even bigger private sector – and said as much during my wind-up.

Now Peter has done it again. On Thursday this week, he told a conference in Cardiff that the Welsh Assembly Government was attempting, illegitimately, to use the legislative competence order (LCO) procedure as a device to confer more primary powers on the Assembly “by the back door”:

“There was the attempt to insert a ban on smacking children into an LCO.

“It had to be pointed out that was beyond the Assembly’s scope, and that the issue needed to be addressed in children’s legislation at Westminster.

“This LCO system is not a backdoor method of smuggling primary law-making powers in. It’s a streamlined process of achieving extra powers for the Assembly.”

Save that the LCO procedure is not streamlined – it’s actually very clunky and laborious – I’d agree with that, too. And the LCO in question is not the only example. There was also WAG’s attempt in the housing LCO to obtain competence to abolish the right to buy, which was rightly and unanimously rejected by the all-party Welsh select committee, much to the effervescent outrage of the Rt Hon Lord Elis-Thomas.

The fundamental problem is that the LCO process is not truly democratic devolution. That would be gained only through the legitimacy conferred by a referendum of the people of Wales – a referendum which Peter and most other sensible commentators agree could not be won.

No, the LCO procedure is the bastard offspring of an internal Labour party dispute between Members of Parliament and Assembly members, as Peter himself acknowledged in his Cardiff speech:

“Everybody has to realise that the 2006 Act was born out of a negotiation to reconcile those who wanted full law-making powers and those who insisted there would have to be a referendum before those powers could be granted.

“There is no way the legislation could have got through without including the need for a referendum. That was not deliverable, even if it was desirable, which I would have disputed.

“You could not have changed the 1997 settlement unless there was a referendum built in.

“The question was, what did you do in the meantime? Rhodri and I considered this for months. That’s when I came up with the LCO (Legislative Competence Order) route.”

Full marks to Peter for his frankness, but I’m afraid that this is where we part company. What you could have done in the meantime was to allow the Assembly to develop into a body that was recognised and trusted by the people of Wales as a vehicle for delivering better, more efficient public services closer to the point of consumption. That is a process that would undoubtedly have taken time – probably a very long time indeed - but what was the rush?

Any referendum that was held after that “bedding-in” period would, if won, have conferred real legitimacy on the devolution of primary powers. If lost, then the issue would have been put to bed once and for all. Either way, nobody could have complained.

As it is, Wales has been lumbered with a dodgy constitutional lash-up that pleases neither faction within the Labour party, to say nothing of Lord Elis-Thomas.
