Tom Brokaw Quizes McCain on Meet the Press For Supporting Bush 92% Of The Time

FINALLY McCain admits to holding hands with George W. Bush.

Sen. John McCain is now owning up to the fact that he and George Bush actually have a whole lot in common.” Sunday morning, Sen. McCain stated on Meet the Press, that he and President Bush ’share a common philosophy.’ See below, part of that NBC’s Meet the Press for that interview, with Tom Brokaw.

All I can figure is that John McCain wants those votes of loyal Bush voters…the man is desperate.

For those of you who don’t know…NBC Nightly News, Tom Brokaw, who does NBC’s Meet the Press, pin pointed to a review of McCain’s record, which showed McCain voted with Bush 92 percent of the time. Brokaw then asked McCain, “So it’s a little hard for the public to separate you from this administration, isn’t it?

I think voters can expect “the same kind of politics that we’ve seen over the last eight years” from the McCain/Palin ticket. Do not let Bush pass the torch of recession to John McCain.

Obama says that, “finally McCain is finally giving us a little straight talk.” Personally, “I don’t think he is capable of doing that!”

CNN has the latest polls. There are only 9 days left to make up your mind, unless you are like me and have already voted.

NBC announced Sunday morning that a familiar face will be sitting in the seat left tragically vacant by popular Tim Russert on Meet the Press.

Former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw has been chosen to take over moderator duties for the politically-driven discussions on the Sunday-morning news program, through the November election. For the past week, the leading candidates appeared to be NBC News Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory, PBS’ Gwen Ifill, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and NBC Political Director Chuck Todd. By choosing Brokaw as the interim host, Capus and NBC has brought in a stabilizing force while the network makes a longer-term decision. NBC News President Steve Capus in a statement:

NBC made a great decision in announcing that former Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw would take over the host duties of Meet the Press through November.

It makes tons of sense. Brokaw was very close to Russert, and the MTP staff greatly respects his judgement. Moreover, he brings a certain gravitas and star-power that few others on network television enjoy. And he's mostly seen as objective and non-partisan, something that couldn't be said for others under consideration -- most notably Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews.

Most importantly, it gives NBC five months to find a permanent successor. My guess is that it will still come down to David Gregory or Chuck Todd -- don't be surprised to see both fill-in once or twice between now and November -- but there may be a dark-horse or two in the mix as well.

MTP's success is critically important to NBC News. Under Tim Russert's tutelage, it enjoyed a commanding lead over Face the Nation and This Week, and in some ways provided a "halo" of credibility and respect over all of NBC News. It will be interesting to see how the numbers shake-out over the next five months.

In what I'm sure will be a tastefully produced program, Meet The Press will pay tribute to the late Tim Russert tomorrow. NBC News has asked Tom Brokaw to host the special episode, but he won't be taking Russert's chair. Rather, the moderator chair will be left empty.

Brokaw will speak with friends of the late host Maria Shriver, James Carville, Mary Matalin and other behind-the-scenes friends. Russert was the longest-running moderator for MTP; he began hosting in December 1991. He passed away Friday after collapsing from a heart attack while voicing portions of this week's program.
