Goal Of The Day: Aaron Lennon Sets Northern London Ablaze

posted by carnitas

Spurs fans were sure to add Aaron Lennon in their prayers last night one of the mainstays from Martin Jol's squad sent in the equalizer in the 93rd minute to secure a tie with Arsenal. It secured a point for the team, but more importantly, It's a testament to these new Spurs that even after they were down 4-2 they didn't let up and were still in it down to the literally the last minute.

Check out the goal after the jump.

Juande Ramos: Crazy To Suggest I Would Quit Spurs

posted by JakeBriggs741

Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos has dismissed reports that he is ready to quit White Hart Lane to return to La Liga after less than a year in charge of the North London club.

Ramos has seen his Spurs side endure their worst start to a season in 34 years, which has seen speculation mount about the Spaniard’s future at Tottenham, with recent reports claiming that Ramos is ready to return back to Spain.

Former Sevilla coach Ramos took Spurs to League Cup glory at Wembley against Chelsea last season, but lost strike-force Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane during the summer. While only managing to bring in Roman Pavlyuchenko as a recognised goalscorer to Tottenham.

Other summer signings David Bentley, Luka Modric and young Mexican Giovanni Dos Santos are taken time to settle in at Tottenham, which has seen Spurs only pick up 2 points in 5 games in the Premiership this season and sees them rooted to the bottom of the table.

However, Ramos has rejected reports he is ready to quit Tottenham as “crazy”, after claiming he has dreamed of coaching in the Premier League for years. Ramos also insists he does not look for excuses to Spurs’ poor start and says it is time for Tottenham to win the Carling Cup in which they are champions.

Ramos told AS: “It's crazy to suggest that when I have been dreaming for many years of coaching in the Premiership.

“We're playing five games in thirteen days, on Wednesday, we play in the Carling Cup against Newcastle. There is no time to prepare things. But I do not look for excuses.

“Now it is time to win in the competition in which we are champions.”

Spurs' Pavlyuchenko: 'I Failed To Score, So Im Not Berbatov's Replacement Yet'

posted by JakeBriggs741

Tottenham Hotspur’s new signing Roman Pavlyuchenko has admitted that football in the Premier League is a lot faster to the football he was playing in the Russian League with Spartak Moscow, but has revealed that he felt the “amazing Atmosphere of the Premier League” on his debut against Aston Villa on Monday night.

26-year-old Pavlyuchenko made his debut for Spurs in the 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane by the Villans, but despite failing to score for the North London club, the Russian International believes he will fill the void left by Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov, once he starts to find the net for Tottenham.

“Everything was unusual for me,” he told Izvestia daily newspaper.

“It's a different kind of football, with a different speed... I immediately realised that English football is much faster than in Russia. Our opponents didn't give me enough time to get to the ball properly."

“That's why I had practically no chance to score. So I'll have to keep it up and work on it. And about 20 minutes before the end, the strength started running out of me. My leg muscles felt unusually cramped up.

“But what I also felt was the amazing atmosphere of the Premier League. It's hard to describe. After each good pass or corner, people applaud, they even stand up from their seats to do it. It's really pleasant to play in such surroundings.

“I'm aware that Tottenham fans want me to be a replacement for Berbatov. I failed to score, so I'm not a proper replacement for him - yet. He was a key player and that means that if the Spurs people want me to replace him, they must believe in me so I hope that I'll manage to help the team.

“But I have mixed emotions now. We lost and that means the result was bad for us. As for my own performance... It was probably OK for the very first game. In London I'm happy about everything - except for Tottenham's position at the bottom of the table.”

Spurs To Break British Transfer Record To Land Huntelaar In January?

posted by JakeBriggs741

Tottenham Hotspur will have to find in excess of £30million if they want to sign prolific striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar from Ajax in the January transfer window.

Spurs, who failed to sign a fourth recognised striker at White Hart Lane after allowing Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov to leave for Liverpool and Manchester United respectively, have been heavily linked with a move for the Dutch International in January.

However, it is understood that should Tottenham boss Juande Ramos make a move for Huntelaar in January. The North London club would have to offer more than £30million, with it claimed that the Eredivisie side have already turned down two bid of £30million for the former Heerenveen forward. One of which is believed to be Bundesliga club SV Hamburg, who are managed by former Spurs chief Martin Jol, according to Sport 1.

Huntelaar stated his desire to follow in the footsteps of Ruud van Nistelrooy earlier in the summer, and play in the Premier League, with it coming as no surprise that the striker has attracted interest from around Europe, having scored a phenomenal 70 goals in 83 games for Ajax.

Campbell Eager For Spurs Debut

posted by JakeBriggs741

Fraizer Campbell has revealed that he cant wait to pull on a Tottenham Hotspur shirt and make his debut for the Premier League club.

20-year-old Campbell, who has joined Spurs on a season-long loan from Manchester United as part of the deal that saw Bulgarian International Dimitar Berbatov leave White Hart Lane, has also revealed that he is eager to get as many games as he can for the North London, while trying to gain some valuable Premiership experience before returning to Old Trafford next summer.

“It's been a good couple of days. I've met the players, the staff and I'm just pleased to be down here,” he told the club's official website.

“I knew Aaron (Lennon), Tom (Huddlestone) and Jamie (O'Hara) through England and that obviously helps you settle in.

“We were with England all week, so I was chatting to them and they've told me how good the club is, how much I'd enjoy it and it's so far, so good.

“I just want to learn as much as I can in training every day. The coaching staff have such good reputations, so hopefully I'll learn from them and play in as many games as I can, score as many goals as I can and try to get more experience in the Premier League.

“You learn a lot about yourself on loan and I can't wait to pull on a shirt and get out there. I'm excited by it all.”
