Now, open your registry. You can open your registry by using the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.exe), which is a program automatically included with most Windows operating systems. The Registry Editor lets you view, edit, and search data within the your system’s registry. You can launch your Registry Editor many ways, and the easiest way to is to click the “Start” button, select “Run,” and type “regedit” inthe “Open” box

Locate the user key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences]. Create or find a binary data value called AddToMRU and set its value to “00″ (setting this value to “01″ would leave your Windows Media Player most recent files still listed).

Data Type: REG_BINARY

Value Name: AddToMRU

Value Data: 00

Now you can exit your registry and Registry Editor. You’ll probably need to log out of Windows for this registry tweak to take effect.

On June 22nd 2008, I had the opportunity to bring a presentation in a group of Internet marketers in Surabaya. The material of my presentation basically can be found in this blog. It’s about Installing Wordpress and some SEO setting on it, and also a brief introduction about paid blogging.

The event was really meant for beginners even though some pros were there too. Related to WordPress for beginners, these are WordPress plug-ins that basically you need. I use these plug-ins everytime I install WordPress for the first time.

Ini adalah 3 plug-in basic yang selalu saya pakai. 1 plugin untuk penangkal spam, 2 untuk SEO. Mari kita bahas satu per satu.

Akismet
Akismet is a standard WordPress plug in that already included in WordPress installation package. It protects your WordPress against comment spam.

Saya mempunyai sebuah blog Wordpress yang tidak terurus. Sejak pertama kali saya install, langsung saya tinggalkan. Hanya ada satu posting yaitu posting standard WordPress (Hello World). Hingga sekarang, tiap hari saya menerima sekitar 10 comment spam yang masuk ke email saya (karena saya set pemberitahuan lewat e-mail setiap ada comment).

Bila anda memilih untuk tidak menerima comment maka plugin Akismet tidak diperlukan.

Untuk mengaktifkan Akismet, Anda perlu meg-input-kan WordPress API key. Wordpress API key adalah 12 digit kode yang didapatkan dengan cara sign-up account di WordPress.com. Anda tidak harus membuat blog di WordPress.com, dengan membuat account saja anda sudah bisa mendapatkan API key ini.
