We may have found the most astonishing claim made by anyone of the paleo-future. According to the 1981 book School, Work and Play (World of Tomorrow), in the future, homework will be fun! Upon hearing the news every child of the early 1980s choked on their bologna sandwich.

Learning by computer in the future will be fun. This computer is displaying a chemistry experiment for the older child and arithmetic problems for the younger one. The computer controls include light pens to draw on the screens. The chemistry student has done something wrong and has caused an explosion!

See also:
Connections: AT&T;'s Vision of the Future (Part 7, 1993)
The Road Ahead: Future Classroom (1995)

Schools Need to Archive Too!

posted by simplicato

Schools need to abide by recent amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and the Freedom of Information Act. This means that the school may need to make quickly accessible all employee emails and other electronic communication during litigation or if requested the school must make available certain information to the public, which may be contained in email transmission.

Organizations need to archive their email. That is why we designed Backaway the way we have. We felt we needed to live up to our name by creating an interface that was simple to use, yet also one that had the features that would allow school districts and companies in other business sectors to comply.

Our Backaway provides a seamless and non-intrusive way of completely archiving all incoming and outgoing email. Our cataloging and indexing produces timely and precise search results. Additionally, the compliance monitoring and keyword filtering features allow messages that meet certain conditions to be either flagged and notification sent to the appropriate authority or send the actual message to that authority. Therefore, organizations can insure that Acceptable Use Policies, or Security Process and Procedures are being complied with by user of the email system.

We currently make available a demo account set up for comprehensive reviewing. If, however, an organization wants to try Backaway out in their own environment, real time, we offer a 30 day trial for as many accounts as the organziation wishes. That is when you really see the power of Backaway.

Any questions regarding Backaway, the Backaway Demo, or trying the Trial should be directed to Sales at 877-438-4627 or go to our main webpage and chat with a rep live.
Continue reading "Schools Need to Archive Too!"
